3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
In glass it show a nice clear red cooper color with a small foam head. It has a quite good and complex smell with some caramel, coffee, nuts, floral and woody notes. The taste is also as good as the aroma, revealing a sweet flavor, and after a few seconds in palate you can feel the cranberry flavor mixing with the malt. Maybe it’s not the beer to drink more than one at the same time, but it’s a good choice. I’m not a lover of the fruit beers but this one amaze me.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330 ml bottle bought at YATA in Grand Century Place, Mong Kok.
Clear dark copper colour; Half finger head and soapy off white foam which lasts about 20 seconds; Decent sticky lacing with active hard carbonation; Sweet, fragrant aroma of blueberry which can be smelt a foot away, with light malt, caramel, light toffee, steamed mui choi (dry pickled Chinese mustard), and rhubarb; Light sweet taste of light malt, with pronounced blueberry, caramel, light toffee, rhubarb, very light wet cardboard, soda, molasses, light mui choi, light Ribena, and hint of grassy hops; Light body, close to watery palate; Taste profile is pretty refreshing, non-sweet blueberry with dose of good caramel. Malt taste is light but solid (caramel malt certainly helps), almost like an Ale, strong yeast, and cardboard is very light; Hoppiness is zero in nose and hint of grassy hops in taste. Light fruity finish to close out. Slightly dry after taste, very easy to mouth.
Comments: After trying the half-decent Kunstmann Honey Ale, this one is much better in QC with very little off tastes. Surprisingly for a blueberry beer, sweetness is near zero to amplify its freshness, and using Caramel malt for colours and taste certainly helps its cause. I like it, and a nice one for those who like non-sweet fruit beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330 ml bottle bought in Tottus supermarket, Santiago de Chile. So I finally got to try the new Kunstmann fruit beer. In the glass it appears as a dense dark copper coloured ale with no head at all. Aroma is fruity, mostly blueberries with a herbal trace from the noble hops. Taste is fruity, interesting and well-defined. The blueberries are obvious but not overpowering. The most obvious comparison in Chile would be Austral Calafate Ale. Body-wise it is a thick oily beer similar to the Honig Ale by the same brewer. A little too simple and one-dimensional but well-crafted and flawless in its simplicity. Nice one from a very solid chilean brewer.
