COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A beer specialty, just as it was brewed ages ago: top-fermented, with dark kilned barley malt and bitter-fresh hops. A unique taste, hearty and spicy. The old style beer with the genuine taste

On tap. Pours a moderate brown with a small off white head. Aroma is malty, grainy with a bread note to it, slight y fruitiness. Flavor is much the same, very drinkable and soft grain character, easy drinking and a nice soft bready note. FInishes a touch crisp but smooth. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Decent beer

Pours a dark amber-orange. Aroma is faint sweet caramel malts, some cereal grains. Flavor is medium-bodied with toasted caramel malts. Not too complex, but refreshingly drinkable.

Draft. Like a German brown ale, slightly fruity, rich brown sugar, some grassy hoppiness, love the rich German malt. Pretty good drinker.

Nettes Altbier! Test vom 10.1.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,10,10,9,12,10 - 10,15

On tap at Laschet’s Inn I had the choice of getting this in a liter of half liter. I chose the half in case I wanted a different brew. It had a real nice head that had some nice lacing when it went away Very nice smell. Malty and a little sweet. The beer was an amber color. But it was definitely a dark beer. Real nice taste it was sweet a little nutty. But very refreshing. it was sweeter than I expected but the roasted maltyness balanced it out very well. I liked this alt beers. It was exactly what I wanted. So I got another half liter. I should of got a liter at first, but who cares?

[Tap] Pours a chestnut brown color with a thin beige head. Aroma of grains, bread and sweet caramel. Lots of caramel malty favoring, with a slight grain astringency throughout. Sweet caramel and toast are some of the main themes here. Grains and grassy hops in the finish. Average mouthfeel and body. Not particularly complex, but it’s about on par with what I was expecting.

At some point this replaced all the Frankenheim Alt many of the German bars in Chicago. I think this kind of has a muddied flavor. Won’t turn it down but not that great. Serving: Tap

Enjoyed on draft at Resi’s Bierstube in Chicago. Aroma isn’t very apparent, if anything its slightly malty. Its dark out here, so I can’t really assess appearance. Taste wise its great, nice and malty with a great creamy texture.

Cold and from the bottle in Karlsruhe, Germany. Dark pour. Neutral in all respects, with hints of roasted nuts, malt and hops. Decent beer, been around forever.
