Schwarzbier - keine Angst!

Bottle, picked up at rewe in steglitz. Looks just like a dubbel, a rich shade of very dark brown ith a thin beige head; curious aroma of walnut skin, sour cherry and almond; loads of flavour - burning rubber, olive brine, sherbet, brown sugar, melt-in-the-mouth texture. Original and quite sophisticated

Hazelnut brown beer, medium fluffy off-white head. Nose is malts, bready and metallic notes, some dusty chocolate. Flavor begins somewhat watery but builds up to coffee, dust, chocolate and adds some hops in the finish. Some warm booziness in the aftertaste, coffee and chocolate in the retronasals. Easily drinkable.

Herb-süßer Beginn, deutlich malzig, kurze scharfe Bitterkeit. Erkennbarer Alkohol, rund bleibend. Zum Ende stört der Alkohol dagegen, trocken röstig. Okay. 8/9/9/7/6/7

Very dark brown with off white head. Aroma of bread, toast and soy sauce. The taste is very sweet but some bitterness balances and the full body of the beer makes it very enjoyable to drink. I like it!

500 ml bottle, very classy look with the old style label. ( though subject matter not). Purchased from Lifesource in Salem OR. $5.99 Pours a dark dark mahogany brown..attractive large thick and creamy tan head.. Nice aromas of creamy ,milky, goodness..some coffee, roasted cereal and touch of figs. Taste similar to the aroma..very smooth...Maybe a little ashiness in the back also. Palate is very nice also..smooth yet easy..low carbonation. Nice beer..but not a Baltic IMO.

500ml bottle. No production date visible. Appearance: Jet black with a touch of deep ruby under light and clear. Thick khaki foam head with scent lacing. Aroma: Fresh coffee, roasted malt, and chocolate. Taste: Light roasted malt with a touch of sweet chocolate, with moderate bitterness accentuated by the roasted malt. Mouthfeel: Light body with some slickness on the tongue, moderate carbonation. Finish: lingering roasted malt with a touch of chocolate. Malt forward. Overall: Good schwarzbier. Roasted malt character is dominant but not overpowering, with a nice milk chocolate complement. Very drinkable considering the high roast character.
