UPDATED: AUG 29, 2011 Black and brown with a creamy off-white head. In the nose lots of dark roasted malts and licorice. In the mouth, star anise, dark sugar, a little coffee and roasted malt. Rich luscious body with mild carbonation. I miss a little acidity - dry malty aftertaste.

0.5L bottle. Big-bubbled firm choco head. Body is translucent dark brown. Bready nose with some hard roasted malt tones. Notes of burnt coffee beans and spices. Dry malt flavor, not much residual sugars left. Very coffee-ish. Distinctly bitter, both from the hops and the malts. Medium body strenght. Dry, roasted malt finish.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SirLimpsalot (1101) - SWEDEN - NOV 2, 2010
Rökigheten blir lite tydligare i smaken.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 garrettdcole (23) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - AUG 6, 2010
Very nice strong schwarzbier / baltic porter from Neuzeller Klosterbräu. I was sold on the label. Looks like this was originally brewed at Kyritzer; however, in its present incarnation the alcohol has been increased to 7.2%. Pours a deep brown with a decent tan head. If memory serves, this seems an awful lot like the Neuzeller Porter. It would be interesting to taste these back-to-back to ferret out the differences.
