500ml Bottle - Brown with red tinges. Fruity aroma with hints of caramel and raisin. Metallic, fruity and sweet taste with notes of dried fruit, marzipan and caramel .

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2012 500 ml bottle shared at Beer session XIX "From Latvia with alus" in Tromsø 220312. Chestnut colour with beige head that soon vanishes leaving no lacing. Quite nice aroma of dark fruits, but the flavour is more bland and insignificant as well as somewhat metallic. Palate is dry even if it is slightly watered and the beer is easy to drink. On the whole: average.

500ml bottle, kindly provided by Stefan and Elisabeth. Fading, beige head, nice ruby-brown body, no lace. Aroma of dark and dried fruits. Bread-like malts in flavour added by dark fruits. Dry ending. Feels rather thin in the mouth, easy to drink. So and so (shared at a drinking session in Tromsø, 22.03.2012).

Sweet and sour malt fragrance with a slightly smoky nuance and hints of alcohol, figs and brown sugar. Typical Latvian beer fragrance! Tastes like burnt sugar and roasted caramel malt. A bit watery. Not very good but one of the better Latvian beers I have tasted!

Brown body, off white head. Aroma has sweet malts, some metal. Flavour is sweet and slightly roasted. Palate is little thin.

4+ Slighly off aroma, hard to describe how, but certainly had some ’ew!’ to it.
3+ Bold caramel red, healthy off-white head
5 Very caramelly retronasals and taste. Otherwise pretty dull.
2 Sweet, watery, and fizzy. Finish a bit mushroomy, papery and caramelly.
9 Not a bad beer, but without any of the character that the old Livu brews had (having said that, they were nastier!).

Bottle. Another united beer of Kalnapilis-Tauro group and Livu/Lacplesis. Same design, only different languages. Brown color, malty aroma. Sweet flavor of roasted malts, little bit watery. Short aftertaste.

500 ml bottle, ’bbe’ Dec 2010. Dark red to, indeed, chestnut in colour; disappearing head. Sweetish, slightly pungent aroma recalling overripe fruit. Rather sweet taste with prominent caramel and a bitterish aftertaste.
