Nice fruity aroma, but not sure its blackberry (mûres), slight acidic feel in mouth with the berry coming nicely, but lacks some of the attribute of a Blanche...

from Mondial de la Bière, Strasbourg - hazy dark golden-orange colour with a little foam left; aroma of cream and blackberries; juicy palate and quite sweet, a little acidity and quite dry; aftertaste of dried blackberries

A dark amber luminescence evokes the first occurance of this question : "Isn't this supposed to be a witbier?"...A cantaloup aroma over a slightly acid blackberry juice in a thin, highly quaffable, body...If this wasn't labelled as a wit, I probably would not have thought of the underlying powdery orange peel bitterness...

Amber, small white head. Lightly yeasty and fruity aroma. Light tart fruit, wheaty notes are muted. Refreshingly crisp but pretty dull overall. Average palate.

Bottle pours translucent golden, medium frothy white head, light carbonation, with decent lacing.   Aroma isn’t all that Witbier like, slightly fruity, but moreso grainy.   Er, semisweet berry up front, slightly tart, but unfortunately grassy/grainy.   Finishes slightly aromatic, slightly medicinal.   Nothing really jumps out and dominates.   Very light in body and in flavor.   Was hoping it would be a bit more flavorful.   Thanks goes out to Rastacouere for the trade!

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry and GregClow -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a hazy orange-amber with an average size lasting white head. Mild aroma of wheat with a hint of berry and that "Quebec beer" sourness that so many of their beers seem to share. Flavour’s like carbonated water with a hint of what’s in the aroma -- doesn’t taste bad but it’s not much of a beer. Light bodied. Pretty boring stuff, I guess it would be O.K. if you were in the mood for lightly flavoured carbonated water.

bottled: Blond body with a fruity smell of lemon and cherries. In mouth, while the blackberry is more obvious, I'm impressed they've named the beer after it. Fruitiness and tartness, it lacks spices for a white. Too simple and not so balanced, the acidity cuts it short more than it makes it refreshing.

Bottle (500ml). With blankboy and GregClow, my bottle. Cloudy amber with a large fluffy-creamy white head. Faint aroma of slightly vegetal malt, mild generic berry fruit and papery dry/stale floral hops - gets that tell-tale "Québec" sourness on warming. Thin taste - papery dry hops, soapy and sour generic fruity-sweet malt - no linger or finish at all, it’s gone in a flash off the tongue leaving a hint of sourness behind. Incredibly watery body but at least a lively mouthfeel - it’s not bad, really, but it’s mostly just nothing at all.

UPDATED: JUL 7, 2008 500ml bottle. Cloudy orange with an average head. The "Blanche aux Mûres" name meaning “Mures Witbier” is misleading. This ain’t a witbier. Taste of white-grapes and apples with a sour and acidic twist. Kind of refreshing but mostly totally messy. Somewhat "original". Yet another mess from a brewery that is as reliable as a 1984 Hyundai Pony.

(Rating #4699)
