| An India Pale Ale (IPA) brewed by La Barberie Québec City, Canada
| |
MartinT (4241), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 20, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Citrusy fruitiness and serious hop resins develop a sandy, earthy bitterness which lingers long after the sip is swallowed. The nitroed pour provides a swollen mouthfeel at first, but with time it becomes agreeable for those who would like to try an IPA with a difference.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-An immense head of foam cascades to the top of the coppery amber. The nitrogen use is obvious and makes neopthytes around talk.
-The finishing hop bitterness is quite sturdy, recalling Simcoe and/or Amarillo varieties.
-Malts do not contribute much at all to this brew (some caramel perhaps?); maybe a version without the nitro would let us taste their apport.
-Even though this wasn’t a memorable IPA, I can’t say it wasn’t cleanly brewed and would not please hopheads looking for a quick fix.
On tap at the brewpub.
