On tap at Vices et Versa, mahogany-rubyish color, with a tan-colored head, with fruity, grainy, pale malt, hint of maltiness in the nose, follows through on a medium-bodied palte with a fruity, flowery accent, grassy, leading to a hop bettering finish.

500 ml bottle. Pours a nice cloudy reddish amber color with a medium light brown head that leaves decent lacing on the glass. Interesting aroma of grapefruit, floral hops, toffee and roasted malt. Flavor of hops with toffee and roasted malt, the hops bitterness is a bit too harsh but it gets milder as the beer warms up, lasting bitter finish. Medium body, creamy and oily texture, soft carbonation. Warmed up it’s a decent bitter but not memorable.

Bitter On Lees? W.T.F? Pours a cloudy coper, whispy tan head with slight brown yeast particals floating on top. Yeast on the nose, bready malt, floral hop. palat is grainy, flat. Taste? Med-low bitter hop, yeast, mild malt, skunk. Aftertaste is bready, more yeast, deep bitter{the best part of this one} Seems like La Barberie cant decide if this is a bitter, a rouse or a wit. Dont Bother.

Bottled. Copper coloured, some yeast particles, rich head. Grapefruity hop aroma. Sweet with clean mouthfeel. Very roasty and somewhat ashy. Resiny finish.

Very nice ruby body topped with a thick, dense and lasting off-white head. Some yeasty chunks are visible. Interesting malty aroma with coffeeish, spicy and roasty hints. Taste is definitely bitter and its dry finish is particularly harsh. This has the potential for being a very good beer but like the other beers I’ve been tasting from La Barberie, there’s still that unappropriate sourness that bugs me...

500ml bottle. Vibrant orange-red colour with a dense, fully-lasting head that foams enthusiastically. Fruity aroma of peaches, apricots, and melon. Light-to-medium body, moderately carbonated. The forward fruity flavours have a slightly sour edge, like what you might get from plums, peaches, apricots, and cherries that are a little underripe. The hop character asserts itself around the middle and builds through the finish leaving a lingering, citrusy, piney hop aftertaste. I hesitate to call it unique, but it is definitely different. I think it’s rather pleasant, but I also recognize the fact that some might think it’s just odd. That touch of fruity, juicy sourness (whether intentional or not—although I’m beginning to suspect that it is a characteristic of the Barberie yeast) adds a level of interest, is fairly well-integrated, and is actually quite refreshing.

Heavy, sweet yet hoppy nose - seems stale. Beautiful clear amber brown with generous pillowy off-white head that lasts nicely. Strong, harsh bitterness, a bit spicy. Quite sour and acidic. Fairly thin body. Not a lot of carbonation after all despite all that head. Oxidized? Stale? Not enjoyable at all. Bottle.

Slightly hazy dark beer. Roasty aroma, some hops. Flavour of cardboard. Eh. Bottle.

Bottled. Dark, almost opaque mahogany-brown, very thick heavy head Big malty-sweet (not quite cloying) nose. Strongly hoppy, dark-fruity, hints of stale bread, herbal qualities, sour cherries. Decent, strong-flavored but a bit off-balanced bitter, with long somewhat harsh finish. Points for intensity.

Lubiere (12970) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 14, 2003
Deep red copper colour with a big hoppy alty nose. Caramel malts, nuts, with lots of floral hops (good for QC beer), but a little acidic point (beer may be going off).
