2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Metalchopz (1429) - Quebec, CANADA - FEB 16, 2011
Originally rated August 2009. Bought this one when we played a show in Quebec City at l’Agitée. Poured a brown colour with a creamy beige head, good retention and small wavy lacing. Had not much scent to it, just a little grain, that’s about it. Smooth silky mouthfeel, but no stickiness, just watery. The taste was a little on the burnt malt side, but really light, and had a mild coffee aftertaste. Overall, nothing really outstanding, but a light coffee stout that gets a few points for its taste.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 EnSiFeRuM (501) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 18, 2008
1.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Sammy (6130) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 23, 2007
On-tap at Saint-Bock. Yes coffee, but cold coffee, coffee grinds, chemical aroma, and not too drinkable. This brewery makes a lot of beers, there is a hit-and-miss element, the latter for this try.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 mabel (4405) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 20, 2007
[513-20070811] Tap @ Saint-Bock (Montréal, QC). Dark roasted coffee malt aroma with notes of dark chocolate. Black body with a medium-lasting foamy light tan head. Bitter dark coffee roast malt flavour is smokey with a bitter nutty aftertaste. Medium-full body is thinner than expected. Almost a coffee alternative, alcohol is hardly noticeable.

2.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Goldorak (439) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 18, 2005
Pitch black, no surprise here, with a big, thick, almost gooey head.
Smells like the cheap watery coffee you get in the waiting room of a garage.
Thank God, it tastes better than it smells! Good roasted grain, I was expecting bitterness (the bad, stale coffee kind) but instead I got the light bittersweetness you get from 70-80% cocoa dark chocolate. Real easy to drink.
