(printemps 2007)

Sampled at Mondial 2006. On nitro. The body is black with a light khaki head. The aroma is light coffee with tea and some caramel. The taste is sweet with smoked chocolate and apples. There is not much else happening here, Not bad, but boring.

Sampled draught at the Mondial. Jesus H. C&*^*t these guys make a lot of stouts! Almost as many as Kalamazoo in fact...but there alas the comparison ends. Quality? Well this offering pours (from nitro) glossy opaque black with a lasting expected fine-bubbled dark smooth head...maple-roasty nose initially pleasant, until the wet paper sets in and it sours, and then you taste...more sourness, cardboard, some old veggies left on the table for a day, brackish, bitter watery conclusion to a...quality? No, I think not.

Draft. Mondial de la Bière 2005. Deep black color with ruby reflection and nice creamy tan head fully lasting. Roasted malt and coffee aroma. Taste of roasted malt and coffee but watery texture. And didnt noticed the taste of honey.

Strong cocoa powder and coffee in the lightly roasty aroma that has an unfortunate musty, wet, papery undertone. Opaque, dark brown body with dense, fine-bubbled cover of brown head. Vegetal, cabbagey, spoiled banana and dry roastiness in the very bitter flavour. Medium body with fair carbonation seems somewhat stale and lifeless. Sampled at Mondial de la Bière 2005.

On nitro at Mondial, 6/5/05. Typical nitro opacity. Deep brown-black. Light beige head is retained, with little lacing. Smells of coffee, cocoa powder and spoiled bananas. Very watery and thin on the palate, no doubt partly from the nitro, but I would think, also because of this brewer. A lightly dry nuttiness, some slight watered down coffee with skim milk in it. Light touches of sweetness on the end. Where are these bananas coming from? Oh yes, the oats. The oats give it that creamy almost banana-like flavor that you see in many foreign stouts. Only here, it just isnt working for me. Watery mouthfeel, ends mostly dry, with some light coffee lingering.
