My Bottom Line:
Bready yeast dominates this Belgian-style Strong Ale’s earth-covered chocolate truffles, as the fruity angles of cherry syrup and prunes attempt to build complexity.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the darkest brown.
-The carbonation is quite prickly for such a big brew.
-The nose felt a tad unrefined with its raw yeast presence and its vegetal aspects.
-Alcohol is pretty much a no show in the flavor profile.
-The finish is soft and on the sweet side; one can find dessert spiciness there.
-I don’t know if this is trying to be a cousin to a Rochefort 8-like brew, but in any case it does not quite reach authenticity to be thoroughly compared to most Belgian brews of its ilk.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dark brown color ale with a quite large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of candi sugar and dry raisins and plums. Taste is a solid mix between some heavily Belgian malt with good level of residual sugar and notes of dry raisin and plums. Body is quite full with limited filtration and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Very nice take on a classic dark Belgian ale.

(Rating #3531)

Bottle. Brown pour, no head. Aroma has notes of butterscotch, raisins and even a bit of banana, not very belgian in character. Taste is sweet, lots of butterscotch flavors here too, a bit of belgian yeast flavor. Palate is a little sticky for the style. Very easy to drink, perhaps too basic which doesn’t leave much room for error.
