4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Saved this for a month just so it could be my 200th rating and I was not disappointed! Initial aromas of nuts and roasted malts before settling into a smooth, deep, doughy malt nose. This is just jam packed with malt - toffee, bready, and doughy flavors abound before moving into a balanced finish with plenty of spiciness and bitterness offset perfectly by creaminess.
Beautiful deep bronze color with a diminutive head. A great brew.

Sampled at Gothenburg Beer Festival 2011. September 3, 2011
Beautiful amber beer. Sweet aromas almost rum-like, dried fruits, hay and caramel. The body is light and the flavours are very flowery.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(bottle) A big head built up as soon as I opened the bottle, and continued into the glass. Head is a light beige with a cloudy copper body. Aroma of hay and grass, yeast clean earth or clay (slightly metallic, but not in an off-putting way), with fruit notes, sour cherry. Medium to full bodied, creamy and carbonated. Some lacing on the glass. Buttery malt and yeasty flavor is similar to the aroma, but more pronounced fruit flavors: cherry again, slight orange. Pretty even and balanced, actually kind of refreshing.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sour apples, cider, floral aroma. Flavor is cidery, floral, and has a touch of sourness. Very well balanced. Very malty for a biere de garde. Very drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours hazy copper color with a thick, fluffy beige head. Aromas of caramel, yeast, spice, musty and some dark fruits. Flavor is not what I was expecting, not fruit at all, some smoke, tobacco, burnt caramel, chocolate, bitter coffee. This was not what I was thinking it was going to be, kind of bock like. Still it is easy going down.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Excellent tufty white head. Lots of little floaties in suspension in the body of this beer. Impressive aroma: very fruity with a peach pie element. Flavor is even fruitier, with a classic bread (not bready in the sense that it’s usually used on this site) element in the malts used. Hops appear and manifest themselves in the stunningly smooth finish. This is a commendable product -- yet another "mirror to the past" from that great beer-producing part of the world. Perhaps the best beer I have ever had from a ... GREEN bottle!
