33cl bottle part of 6 pack from LCBO, Greektown in Toronto, ON. 11% alc. / vol. Pours a hazy deep gold colour with one finger of lasting white head. Aroma of yeast and hops. Taste matches the aroma with a lively carbonation and dry hoppy finish.

Decent belgian blonde, with some light fruit and a zesty yeast...kinda lacking in depth for a BSA, though. Not bad, but not worth the price.

bottle. Poured clear gold with an initially large white head that settles. Light bready malt aroma, boozy. Medium bodied, tight carbonation, metallic finish. Flavour is grainy and sweet, peppery hops with yeast and alcohol notes.

Gift pack from the LCBO. Pours a golden yellow, slight touch of haze, lots of carbonation, massive fluffy white head, some lace. Nose is sugary malt, touch of spice, Belgian yeast. Tastes bitter initially, that gives way to candy sugar, sweet caramelized malt, spicy. Decent, not my favorite from the gift box.

Also tasted as Bière du Boucanier Golden Ale; derivative of Piraat 10.5°, deep peach blonde with frothy, off-white foam and estery and malty character, a bit bready, caramelly, yeasty, with near astringent alcohol in the finish, sweetish with spicy notes and floral hops. Lacks refinement and seems to be mostly aimed at just being strong, like the other Boucaniers.

Una buona strong ale, non commerciale. Non pastorizzata e filtrata soprattutto. Di colore dorato, con buona schiuma e ben luppolata

La Bière du Boucanier Golden Ale (BE) - Strong Ale - 11%

Golden color, almost clear. Enormous explosive whit head, as common in the Belgian ales, slightly hoppy smell. Aroma is malty (blonde malts), sweetish with lots of brandy, rum, alcohol, hints of apricot and honey, backed by a decent amount of hops. Man, this is strong, winey, whiskeysh. Taste sweetish with a decent bitter finish. Full bodied, carbonated, burning. Not so tasty as expected, still solid, pretty dry short finish. Warming, good for winter, strong strong ale.

Hazed golden colour. Big boozy aroma with esters, vanilla, and rose petals with a touch of honey. Yeasty/estery palate, big boozy finish. Decent winter beer for sure.
