Bottle: Pours a glowing orange, with a nice fluffy white head. Aroma of citrus and Belgian yeast. Some orange peel. Maybe a little clove. Highly carbonated and crisp. Tastes very lemony atop sweet malts. Heavy earthy quality to it. Yeast lingers on the tongue. This is not what I would think that Pirates would be drinking.

22 April 2014, bottle. Light, slightly dirty gold, clear, occasional bubbles. Nose is faintly tart, apples. Hmmm. Thin/med body and fizzy. Alcohol is rather harsh, rock candy and golden syrup, green fruit. Okay. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Massive gushing white head. Had to slurp off the top to stop it going everywhere. Nice clean aroma - alcohol and malt. Tastes strong. A little strong for me. Not as nice as duvel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle somewhere in time. From old notes.
In short: a boozy belgian ale.
A malty, slightly spicy ale, some citrusy. Alcohol more than noticed, not so well integrated.

Cloudy yellow with a very beautiful creamy white head. Smells of bready malts and belgian yeast, taste is more or less the same with some sweetness and a bit of hops in the finish. Average belgian blonde.

Decent strong Belgian blond beer. Bit too heavy on the CO2 for my taste. Average.

OLD NOTES JAN 15, 2004 A thick blond beer, without much alcohol at all on the nose. Had pear and a few more citrus style flavours. The texture of the stuff is very nice. Goes down oh so well for something of its nature. The taste wasn’t quite as complex as others i’ve tried. A few citrus flavours were there, orange, lemon, and a few spices. Seemed almost ciderish in a few ways. Definately worth a try, and quite more than I expected from such a strong beer.
