3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
33 cL bottle from the LCBO, served in a snifter. Pours hazy golden-amber with a moderate off-white head that remains and leaves a small amount of fine lace. On the nose there are notes of straw, caramel, herbs and Belgian spice, along with subtle hops. The flavour is lightly sweet throughout with honey, caramel, flowers, spice and pepper. The finish becomes hoppier, with pine and subtle resin. On the palate, it is light-medium in body with a smooth, milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a decent strong Belgian ale with Belgian spice and significant alcohol that is well disguised. 2013-02-23

Decent strong Belgian blond beer. Bit too heavy on the CO2 for my taste. Average.

OLD NOTES JAN 15, 2004
A thick blond beer, without much alcohol at all on the nose. Had pear and a few more citrus style flavours. The texture of the stuff is very nice. Goes down oh so well for something of its nature. The taste wasn’t quite as complex as others i’ve tried. A few citrus flavours were there, orange, lemon, and a few spices. Seemed almost ciderish in a few ways. Definately worth a try,
and quite more than I expected from such a strong beer.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Very hazy deep gold. Aroma is yeasty and spicy. The palate is less spicy than the aroma, and has a candyish malt sweetness and a lightly alcoholic finish I did not care for.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle into a goblet.
pours a clear light gold with a fluffy two finger white head. Really excellent head retention and lacing as I would expect from a Belgian ale.
Aroma is very spicy with a lot of coriander and orange peel. Plenty of Belgian yeasty spiciness in there too. Not a lot of complexity, however.
The flavor, unfortunately, lacks some of the intensity that is present in the aroma. There is bready malt evident behind the spice along with a slightly solvent note. The orange peel and coriander fade away somewhat quickly and the sweetness is a little more than I would expect from this style of beer.
Overall, I was a little let down. From a Belgian ale perspective, this beer is pretty low on the totem pole. It is just not very refined and falls below even some American versions of the style. I will avoid this beer in the future.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Gran bella birra, molto sottovalutata.
