COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
energetic and full-bodied taste with sweetish pronounced tone, brown copper color and with a creamy foam of beige tonality, bouquet harmonious and elegant. Category "Belgian Strong Dark Ale", style "brown ale", this beer is produced with the method of the triple fermentation, means that it has three doses of malt more than the quantity used for other beers, added in three different phases of workmanship, like the last phase where the malt is directly put in the bottle or the keg.

Hmm, rather funny, on the cap it says: "Malt Liquor"!?!?! Anyways, this beer porus murky dark brown, with a big fluffy tan head. Aroma is very sweet and fruity, a little acidity. Very alcoholic flavor, now i understand why the cap states Malt Liquor, very sweet. Very full bodied, but way to alcoholic IMO. It deserves a tad up for the wicked pirate on the label! Ship ohoy!

Sampled from bottle at Danish Beer Festival 2004 (#37).
Hazy dark amber color, nice tan head. Acrid sweet and sour fruity aroma. Flavor is very sweet with some spices. Full-bodied and ok, but too sweet.

A typical belgian beer. Very dark with a lot of white head. Malty taste with strong notes of alcohol in the aftertaste. A good beer

Opaque dark brown red under a large lastting medium beige coloured head. Light rotting vegetable yeast, medium molases malt and faintly alcoholic aroma becoming pruney fruitier as it warms. Medium butterscotch smoothish palate. Medium light yeasty and big malty dried fruit raisiny sweet flavours. Vinous with hint of rawish alcoholic finish.

Very dark with massive off white head. Aroma is pretty cool, yeasty and malty with a hint of acetic edginess and fruit to it. Palate is good, malty enough to keep out any of the carbonated fizz. Must remember to try this again sometime, it was a bit of a random purchase.

In comparison to the Maredsous 8 Bruin, which is a fairly similiar beer, this falls short, this is probably a little yeastier, but also a a little thinner and less interesting. Caramel/toffee, some citrus rind (orange). Alright in the end, but not fave.
