Aroma is faint and not notable, though a bit sweet. Appearance is a golden brown, with a nice frothy head. Palate is a bit thin but smooth. Taste is really strong, medium sweetness. Hints of caramel, malt, not bitter or sour at all. A tiny bit salty.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 thorine (35) - Indiana, USA - NOV 25, 2010
Pours a hazy/clear (pre-yeast) mahogany with ample head comprised of off-white bubbles of generally very small size. Thought the head dies down quickly, a nice head is retained throughout. The aroma is vinous (pleasantly), with raisins and cranberries, hinting at the not-so-light sourness in the taste. The taste is comprised of, along with the pleasant sourness, a bit of alcohol (after all, it is 9%), ample malt sweetness, and some expected esters and phenols. It is a bit cloying at the end, with a vinously sour/bitter aftertaste lingering on the soft palate.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 imaragingbull (349) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - NOV 21, 2010
Bottle. Pours brown with ruby tinge. Dense light tan head with great retention and lace. Aromas of caramel, burnt and sweet toffee, raisin and light cherry with a light yeast character. Medium body, medium carbonation, nice tarty, light sour cherry flavours among the rich Belgian toffee and caramel sweetness. Yeast is dominant throughout, yet pleasant with notes on the finish a definite characteristic of this beer; well balanced with the sweetness. A touch of sweetness does carry through, nearly to an unpleasant extent on the aftertaste, but overall a nice ale.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 PapaSkeetSkeet (588) - Corvallis, Oregon, USA - NOV 9, 2010
Hazy light brown/mahogany with a tan course head that vanishes fairly quickly. When the bottle was opened, bubbles emerged from the orifice, and now, observing the bottle, I’m noticing a healthy amount of bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Smells of caramel and alcohol with a smaller amount of dates. Flavor is primarily of caramel and a light-bodied sweetness with a spicy alcohol. A bitterness hits soon after on the sides of the palate. it fuses itself with the alcohol, and an old, almost musty flavor. Malt flavors disappear all too quickly, leaving an immediate aftertaste that is not as complex or pleasant as I’d like. Big creamy carbonation (if only it had some head retention). There are some interesting things going on here, but considering that there are some definite flaws, they average out.

Bottled. Pours dark amber with a medium sized, off-white and creamy, mostly lasting head. Nose of malt , dark fruits and yeast. Sweet flavour with caramel, malt and bread. Medium to full bodied. Oily texture. Slightly bitter and more dry finish with some alcohol too. OK.
