3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 pintbypint (1611) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 12, 2012
330ml brown bottle. 7.7% abv on label, best before date is notched as March ’12. Pours out deep amber/lightish brown shade, hazy, some larger floating sediment. Small head, off white in colour, doesn’t hold much lacing and thins out soon after pouring. Definately has a dubbel nose, sweet elements include raisin, caramel, light chocolate, some yeast notes as well. Taste has a nice sweet caramel and chocolate profile, deeper notes of raisin fruitiness, some toasted malt. Dry end with yeast, distant hops and mineral notes. Soft bodied, good smooth mouthfeel, nice easy carbonation, pretty easy to drink.

Inconspicuous yellowish head over amberish, muddy beer. Bit of cookie malts, faintly coloured malts, touch of milkchocolate, and pineapple ester. Spiced, coloured malts, parsley and quite some yeasty esters. Falls a bit dead. Medium bodied. OK, well, it’s organic. I hope that doesn’t explain it.
