3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Kåstå (1221) - Mol, - OCT 29, 2003
Cloudy amber coloured beer with a small head. Sweet coriander aroma. Sweet, liquorice and coriander taste and a light bitter finish. This is a nice beer and could make a nice vintage beer. The only drawback might be that the coriander is a bit too dominating.

July 2007: Brown, dumpy 33cl bottle.
Poured into my Brugse Straffe hendrik chalise glass.
Very livelly, came out the bottle before I could pour it, bringing all the sediment from the bottom with it. My glass was therefore full of bits and a cloudy dull, dish water brown coloured liquid. This dish water had no head, not even some grotty scum on top. Not a good start.
The smell was weak, almost aromaless, some hop esters maybe, malt smells too.
I liked the taste, sharp, sour yet also a sweetness to it. Complexed in every way, but enjoyable too.
Once I got over the non-aroma and no head, cloudy bits and dull colouring, I really thought this was OK. I will allow the bottle to sit for a couple of days before opening next time, or maybe let the beer age a while.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Scott_Snyder (26) - USA - JUL 9, 2011
Aromas of fruit, yeast, sour, alcohol and slight caramel. Reddish brown in color. Cloudy, lots of sediment, almost like muddy water with clay. Tasted slightly sour, fruity, some yeast. Alcohol is covered up well, and more perceived at the finish and in the throat. A full bodied, well carbonated beer. Hard to believe by the taste that this beer is 8.5% abv. Overall an enjoyable experience.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 JorisPPattyn (6748) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - FEB 20, 2011
Gushing to huge, pinkish coloured head, receding over amber-red beer, heavily carbonated & veiled. End of bottle is a murky soup. Jumble of esters (meaty, fruity, herbal, medicinal,...); rosehips and citrus. Despite the sourish taint, that incites all infection warning bells ringing, it’s a rather nice aroma. Lightly roasted coffee, mocha cookies, serious hints at red fruit (cherries in particular) in alcohol. Less sour than feared, but it’s still a bit of a mess all the same, utterly unbalanced. Very spritzy, even fizzy; rather light bodied. (Very) light acidburn. If all these fruity flavours hail from just the yeast indeed, then one could use it to make kriek without any addition, natural or concentrated. Despite all the obvious faults, I kinda like this brew.

New Beer Distributors, NY 11.2oz ($3): Pours an amber color with an off-white looking head. Aroma is fruity, with a touch of yeast and a little nasty boozy note, which is fortunately not replicated in the taste. At first, when I was trying this beer I was disappointed and reassured in the belief that Brune was far and by my favorite from this brewery, but as it warmed it started getting better and better, with well-balanced flavors coming to the fore. Kind of sweet, but with nice yeasty notes. Plenty of fruits all around. Another under-rated beer.
