In short: An ultra-clean slightly toasted ale with a dry grassy hopping. Very acceptable.
How: Tap at brewpub. First batch, within a few weeks of the brewpub opening.
The look: Clear golden body topped by a small off-white head
In long: Although this is supposed to be an English Pale Ale it has a lot in common with their bohemian pilsner P’tite Levesque. Starting with the nose I got dry grassy notes. Malt profile is toasted hay with some dry and crisp caramel and some nutty notes. All that merges with dry toasted grassy finish. I would have never guessed an English Pale Ale on this one but that’s what the menu calls for. Like their P’tite Levesque was very ok for an entry-level “blonde” beer this one is also very acceptable for an entry level “amber” beer. It’s especially nice to find clean homebrews in the middle of nowhere, or to be more precise 2 miles west of the middle of nowhere (Kamouraska).
