In short: An ultra-clean light golden ale with a pilsner hopping. Very acceptable.
How: Tap at brewpub. First batch, within a few weeks of the brewpub opening.
The look: Clear dark blonde body topped by a short-lived white head
In long: Nose is pleasantly Saazy dry herbal. Malt profile is crisp honeyed hay. Surprisingly a lot less hops in the taste than on the nose. But that’s not a bad thing because that overly clean body doesn’t need a lot of hops to balance it off. Carbonation is very active, maybe a bit too much so for such a fragile beer. Overall the beer is pleasantly dry. No default, easy to drink but nothing spectacular. Somewhere between a standard brewpub Golden Ale and a crisp Bohemian Pilsner. Official description at the pub called for a Bohemian Pilsner but I could have gone either way. It has to be a lager but I just didn’t really that lager yeast feeling. Overall this is above average for a brewpub entry-level “blonde” beer. Will please the beer lover because it is a clean and not-offensive well brewed beer, will also please the beer neophyte cause it’s blonde and not too tasty, and will leave the Buddhist monks totally indifferent cause they don’t drink beer.
