marcus (1051), Sacramento, California, USA Apr 7, 2008 On tap at Toronado. This amber ale poured with a tiny beige head. There is a tasty malt backbone with some funky characteristics and a slightly sour finish. Several spices were very noticeable, including coriander and cloves.
Borresteijn (582), Amstelveen, Netherlands Oct 5, 2008 Bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Golden orange colour, white head. Aroma of sour fruits, a bit champagne-like. Flavour is sweet at first, a bit spicy, caramel, but becomes sour towards the finish. Slightly alcoholic finish. Sharp prickly mouthfeel. Didn’t like the sourness in this one. mike1977ok (365), Netherlands Aug 22, 2008 Very lively, bursts out of the bottle. Slightly cloudy red-brown colour. A little bit of sweetness and maltiness in the flavour. BillKismet (1439), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 18, 2008 Beautiful, august, orange amber with a tornado of vigorous carbonation feeding a lush head. This brew is a superb example of the style. Enjoyable yeasty and phenolic notes with medium-bodied amber malts in aroma and flavor. Notes of alcohol accent and flatteringly complement the yeast and malt flavors. Well crafted from start to finish. This makes for a great session Belgian style ale. Homer321 (80), Rockledge, Florida, USA Aug 10, 2008 pours a nice amber color with a slight haze. taste is very boring, not much going on from the malts. slight alcohol warming and a background bitterness. overall, wasn’t that impressed. darkguardian (178), Florida, USA Aug 7, 2008 12 oz bottle from Coffee District. Pours a hazy orange with a nice sized fizzy head. Aroma is a little nondescript. Hints of citrus and caramel but its somewhat muted. The flavor is terrific though. Strong notes of yeast, stone fruits, vanilla and caramel and a little bit of hops. The hops come towards the end but are tempered by the caramel finish. Terrifically balanced and well done beer. Very solid Amber BSA.
