Sampled at From The Vine monthly beer tasting Aug 4th, 2003: This beer was a pleasant surprise. Dark golden-amber with a medium off-white head. Thin lacing. Aroma is well-spiced, with some wheat, citrus and vanilla thrown in as well. Medium-bodied with caramel, spice (cinnamon), fruit and malt flavors. The finish is long and smooth and a little on the sweet side. Overall a very drinkable Belgian.

Small but attractive creamy head. Nice golden/amber color. Good flavor, not too yeasty which I am always afraid of in a Belgian golden or amber. My bottle says 8% ABV. Refreshing considering the higher ABV. Almost sweet but not quite, it stops just short of being sweet and saves itself.

Typical Belgian Head and Lace. Cinamon nose. Refreshing carbonation. Very light for 8%. Good acidity. Dry finish.

Fresh, fruity, malty, sweet and gently spiced aroma, plenty of yeast as well, with notes of pear, melon, vanilla, lemon frosting and a small amount of herbal hop. Medium golden-amber color, hazy with a light dusting of grey sediment, and an abundant, creamy, off-white head and lace sheeting. Flavor is fruity, sweet and flowery, with hints of banana, orange, white grape, honey and anise. Full, creamy mouthfeel, palate sees a bit of tartness. Pleasant.

Hazy orange color that clears as it warms, thin foam, good bead. Fresh fruits, orangy citrus coriander, maybe a hint of ginger?? and a touch of sourness(apples) in the nose. Med-full bodied. Sweet tasting beer, bit of sharp hops at the finish, has an orange vein running through it. Munich malts?? a bit of toastiness, definately big sweet malt and a touch of sourness. Nice beer with a good aroma, some balance of sweet/sour but still leaning towards sweet, I'd like more balance.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2004 Fresh, delicate rosemary leaves are drawn on the tongue, smothered in watered-down apricot and pink grapefruit juice...The chosen ink is taken from a bitter coriander root...Powdery yeast encircles dry orange peels in this weaker variation of the Maudite theme, bordering Heavyweight's Two Druids Gruit...

Orange to light amber color. Strange aroma, flowery and soapy. Reasonable body, but without any remarkable characteristic.

750 ml bottle Aroma is pleasant, suprisingly bitter for a belgian beer, plenty of sweetness, almost floral. Beautiful bottle - Caracole makes lovely labels. The beer attempts to foam violently out of the bottle like champagne, but is quickly subdued. After the first pour or so the sediment kicks up, clouding the light orange-golden liquid. Quite satisfying, the bitterness may be a little overassertive...

Strong carbonation, coppery in color. Spicy, doughy, with very much the same yeast characteristics as the saxo. Solid.
