3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled: Poured a dark brown, with a tan head that dissipated quickly. Aroma hauntingly familiar, reminded me of Augustinerbrau Maximator, which is interesting since these beers are nowhere alike. Flavor was sweet, rich malt, smoke and wood, hints of fruit, syrupy mouthfeel, biting finish. Interesting.

A very good Belgian Strong. Reminded me of a Gouden Drak only a bit sweeter. Enjoy it with a hearty meal.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 7, 2004 A beautiful appearance!
Pours a muddy brown / mahogany body…. but the head is bountiful, thick and a creamy kaki color. I pull large notes of apple and plums from the nose, maybe even a touch of balsamic vinegar. Holy Toasty Malt God!!! The flavor has lasting and delicious notes of toffee and a great smoky molasses presence. A very unique blind of kilned malts, apple cider tartness, and smoky syrupy sweetness… VERY Enjoyable!
The palate is Superb! Creamy and velvety as all hell! Finishes with BIG bold notes of black pepper -- caramelized brown sugar and apples……. I’m Nostradamus DamnIt, I knew this would be good as the Heavens!

Not my cup of tea. Looks good with a dark garnet body and tan head. Wine-like nose. Sweet complex taste. Is probably an excellent representative of its style but I don't seem to like the style.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a 33 cl bottle best before 2006. Dark brown with an almost purple hue. Has a very thin head that quickly disappears leaving a faint haze on the surface. Big aroma of candi sugar, raisin, bananas and cherries. A nice hint of cloves and other warm spices. There is also another smell I can't identify that is quite chemically, but not entirely unpleasant. Taste is very fruity and is dominated by plums and cherries over a rich malty profile. There is a lot of alcohol noticable as well. The finish is long and quite chewy. Quite warming and very good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On Tap at Pizza Plant--Pours a hazy cider color with a 2 cm off white head. Aroma is VERY fruity with a tiny hint of yeastly banana. Cherries and Strawberries in the nose. Start is a little sour, which turns into a sweeter fruity taste. Tangy and acidic finish with some malts in there as well. An interesting and good beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
My initial reaction to this beer was of pure pleasure, this quickly faded however. It seemed that the brewers were trying much too hard to make this a complex, flavorful belgian strong ale. It just got too rich, too oily, too everything. Every aspect of this selection was done to excess. Not my favorite nor my least favorite. Somewhere in the middle.

Another excellent "snail beer". Complex, malty, spicy and fruity.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(33cl bottle) Pours a thin, yellow head and a cloudy, brown body. Quick dissipating head. Nose of caramel, tin and plums. Flavour is somewhat thinner than the nose; mainly a port wine, caramel and slight marshmellow. Good. Thanks to my single West Coast posse comrade, Crit!

This wasn't bad but it wasn't outstanding either. Somewhat "homebrew" like in taste which I found to be questionable. Try it yourself and see.
