Tasted from 12oz bottle into nucleated pint glass. Poured a beautiful, slightly hazy, dark reddish-brown with huge, creamy, persistent beige foam with excellent Belgian lace. The perfect beer appearance. Aromas and flavors true-to-style for Belgian Strong Ale. Reminiscent of a Trappist Quad, but spicier. Rich, caramelly malt-sweetness, massive yeast esters/phenols (probably fermented at a high temperature), perfumey Saaz hops, hints of chocolate, tart fruits, burnt toast, nutmeg, black pepper, anise, smooth alcohol. Very tasty, clearly well-made but I actually prefer less aggressively spiced Belgian ales.

appearance: dark cola-brown, with significant floaties and a finger of creamy tan head. aroma: expansively sweet, with candi sugar, molasses, raisin toast, figs and prunes. taste: candi sugar, slightly burnt, with caramel, molasses, raisins, prunes, and figs; some cherry and dark raspberry, maybe old peaches; there’s a bourbon note as well. finish: very sweet finish, though with a bit of alcohol heat to dry things out. notes: Tastes like a dubbel, feels like a strong ale. Very sweet, so was glad to share the 750. Bottle courtesy of Zoltan.

I do not wax on poetically about beer but I do know the quality of a beer once tasted. This review is not about my tastes but reinforces the numbers, which are arbitrary.

Aromat: estry, zioła, lekkie utlenienie, karmel, alkohol. W sumie belgijski. Krągła pełnia, umiarkowane do wysokiego wysycenie i kwaskowo- alkoholowy finisz. Nieźle, choć mogło by być świeższe.

Dark brown, possibily hazy, off-white moderate head, decent persistence, little lacing. Aroma has an intense and warming liquorous wine character, with notes of caramel and dark fruits. Taste opens sweet with caramel, dark fruits and a pleasant warming feel, alcohol is nicely hidden tough. Finish has a hint of bitterness and is suprisingly dry for the style. Medium body (actually quite light per style), smooth and clean but still warming palate. Overall it’s a clean and well done but not particularly exciting beer

Bottle @ Campiglio. Ramata carica, quasi marrone, schiuma beige non troppo fine persistente. aroma abbastanza intenso, piuttosto complesso, lievito belga, crosta di pane, toffee, caramello, liquore (porto), frutta rossa sotto spirito e zucchero di canna.Gusto dolce amabile all’ingresso, tostato, acidulo, caramello, frutta rossa, alcolico. Lieve astringenza, poco corposa, non molto carbonata, calda, rotonda. Equilibrata ed armonica

Aroma of an serious beer, very intensive, deep, yeast and malt very well balanced, dark red to brown with a lasting foam. Lasting taste of a roasted coffee/malt but not to dominant, nothing like a porter. Satisfying palate. Overall a very good strong Belgian dark ale.
