Tasted from 12oz bottle into nucleated pint glass. Poured a beautiful, slightly hazy, dark reddish-brown with huge, creamy, persistent beige foam with excellent Belgian lace. The perfect beer appearance. Aromas and flavors true-to-style for Belgian Strong Ale. Reminiscent of a Trappist Quad, but spicier. Rich, caramelly malt-sweetness, massive yeast esters/phenols (probably fermented at a high temperature), perfumey Saaz hops, hints of chocolate, tart fruits, burnt toast, nutmeg, black pepper, anise, smooth alcohol. Very tasty, clearly well-made but I actually prefer less aggressively spiced Belgian ales.

33cl bottle at the Elm Tree, Cambridge. Very dark brown with masses of carbonation but very little head. Sweet aroma of raisins and figs, bitter chocolate, tobacco and treacle. Taste is sweet fruity molasses. To sweet for me if truth be told, but still tasty. Short-ish sweet finish. Mild aftertaste of plums and woodsmoke. Full palette, lively from carbonation.

Bottle, 33cL. Home. A dark brown beer with mahogany hues. Medium white head, medium retention. Fruity aroma (prune), caramel, licorice, acid note. Medium sugary sweet, light bitter, short acute sour. Medium body, thin oily texture, medium carbonation, sweet warming finish. Overall, a pleasant brown sweet ale with a nice aroma.

On tap at Global Brew. Pours an opaque dark brown with a decent thin tan head. Aroma of dried dark fruit and cocoa. Taste comes through as prunes, raisins, coffee and cocoa. Good stuff.

Pours a milky brown. Sweet malty aroma. Highly carbonated, keeping the 1/4 inch head constant. Maybe a good dessert beer. Definitely needs food.
