j_b (753), Rochester, New York, USA May 31, 2008 Orange, with tan head, hazy, beautiful, 4-5 appearance. Citrus, brown sugar, figs in nose. Yeasty sour palate, but very sticky and sweet. Excellent. Doppelbock similarities. Note, I love this style so probably overrated this a bit.
Got this in Myrtle Beach, SC of all places.
hophead_hans (583), Bay Area, California, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottle. Holy mackarel this beer for some reason lit me up. It pours with a reddsih brown color. aroams are typically Belgian, dark fruit and yeats. Flavors are not what you expect from a dubble: there is more of a chocolate note in there in addtion to yeast and caramel. fairly sweet and very smooth. Complex and satisfying, scrycer (4), USA does not count Oct 6, 2008 Very interesting. The smell is quite strong, whatever it is beyond brown sugar. Taste lasts a long time, with a little bit of dryness at the end. FatPhil (2351), Espoo, Finland Sep 26, 2008 250ml bottle (Punavuoren Ahven, Helsinki, Belgian Weeks)
Very dark brown, tiny tight beige head. Sticky raisiny and plummy sweet aroma. Lively carbonation. Dark liquoricey taste, very burnt and bitter, a little salty. Almost a carbonated acidity. Liquoricey finish. Maybe the carbonation’s a little too prominent and harsh. There’s also a tingly hoppy finish too. Again there’s carbonated acidity going up my nose. Later the aroma stops being sweet and veers towards salty liquorice too. mirjukka (436), LOHJA, Finland Sep 21, 2008 bottle 250ml shared at Vastarannan Kiiski with JK54B murky light brown bit head roasted malts dash of burnt sugar dried fruits smooth sourness in aftertaste. Pleasant dessert or night cab mjs (576), Helsinki, Finland Sep 15, 2008 (Bottle at Hilpeä Hauki on 2008-09-15) Dark ruby red. Small white head. Alcohol and little bit sourness in nose.
