Rich hazy gold, brief large head, fades to a bit of a film. Sweet citrusy and light-grain aroma. Quite lively carbonation in the mouth, not harsh. Some bubble-gum, light-fruit, and alcohol accompany light malts in the taste. The finish has some sweet, but quite biting, hoppiness, and the feeling that what you’ve just swallowed also packed a fair alcoholic punch. There are many that are distributed/sold throughout the US, but there are infinite amounts more that we don’t get over here at all.
Beautifully thick and fluffy two finger head that takes her time dwindling down to a thin layer which floats on top. I had her poured from bottle into a Bordeaux wine glass since proper beer glassware wasn’t available. The glass served its purpose beautifully, letting Saxo shine. A cloudy golden orange with banana, cloves, and moldy yeast in the nose. Wet mouthfeel with a smooth, medium body. A little bit chewy due to the yeast, but definitely not a detriment. Fermented yeast spices, cinnamon, banana, and sourdough bready goodness greats my mouth and taste buds, slaking my thirst. Later on I get a bit of spiced apples and even more pronounced yeasty sourness, though it never gets as overpowering as it can be in a Golden Ale. Saxo finishes clean, full of yeasty banana and clove spiced goodness. A small bottle, I could easily drink a couple of these and be a-ok. A perfect cheese beer. goldbrew (92), USA Aug 13, 2008 A rich, luscious-mouthfeel blonde ale. Caracole beers always have that special hint of earthiness and care that sets it apart from the masses. Very velvet texture, smooth drinking experience. Decent head, but the strength is the lingering herbal, grassy, pungent, hay and gossamer spice flavors after each sip. A delight.
