3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy, deep brown colored body with an inch thick, dense and creamy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a heavy lacing. Aroma is lightly smoked and peaty with a lightly sweetened caramel malt backing. Some nuts, traces of fruit, and earth. Flavor is similar. Lightly sweetened caramels with touches of bread, toffee, and nuts up front before a balanced smokiness comes in. Some earth, a few fruits, and a slight woodiness before this finishes dry and moderately bitter. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent smoked beer. Nothing special, but balanced and easy drinking.
