Light tan 2cm head fully lasts over this almost black brew. Coffee laden roastiness displays no beaniness and possesses a surprising aromatic power for on under 5%. The acidity level is minimal and the cleanliness, unquestionnable. Quite drinkable, its watery edges do not block a certain creaminess to expand around the mouth. Soft-bodied though actively effervescent. Dry palate generally and constantly hinting at anise coffee. Excellent.

500 ml bottle. Pours a nice black with a weak reddish tint. Smells of chocolate. Tastes of sweet chocolate, caramel, grilled hazelnuts. Has a slight oat and burnt bitterness finish. Body is medium to thin, excellent oatmeal stout, quite comparable to St-Ambroise’s.

pours an almost inky black with a nice creamy dark beige head, good retention and lacing. bitter chocolate and strong coffee, licorice, vanilla, smoke, woody. very silky, full bodied, soft carbonation. would definitely qualify for a stout... great brew!

500ml bottle. Dark brown with a mocha head. Roasted malts, coffee, bit of milk chocolate, light caramel. Well carbonated, a little thin, starts slightly sweet but moves towards bitter. Dry on the finish but there is something missing - mostly roasted flavour but with no complexity.

February 19, 2010 tasting with blankboy, garthicus, gregclow, jerc & mabel. 500ml bottle courtesy of garthicus. Milky-looking brown-red with an average creamy off-white head. Very dry aroma, intense bitter nutshell - quite oily, with some weak herbal notes. The taste follows - incredibly dry with no noticeable alcohol presence. Slick and smooth on the palate, very mild apart from the dryness - quite tasty, but I was thirsty after my sample.

Pours a dark brown colour and small amounts of red highlights glowing through. Its mocha cap is big, bubbly, creamy, foamy, with lots of retention and decent lace. A cascade effect is created for a short period (at first pour). Sweet aromas of maple syrup and molasses at first. Then, the oat really stands out with hints of hops. Silky, yet watery mouthfeel with not much stickiness. Burnt malt flavour that lingers the whole way, but not overly powerful. Mild bitterness in the finish. Notes of coffee, molasses, wood, vanilla and a little annoying one with the mix of hop and malts. I just can’t find what it really is, but it bugs me. The rest is not bad at all, but I still have a bunch of other Oat Stouts that I prefer.

500ml bottle, black color, with a tan-colored head, mild chocolate, roasted, black, toasted malt, oatmeal cerealic, coffee nose with some chocolatey pralines, faint molasses, roasted coffee bean accents, with a faint blackberry, blackcurrant fruity burnt bran muffin note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a smooth roasted, chocolate, black, toasted, coffeish, fruity character with an oatmeal cerealic mellowness backbone, with some dark bitter chocolate, burnt fruitcake, molasses, mochaish flavours, leading towards a fruity, dark bitter chocolate, black coffee, lingering roasty bitterness finish.

Very modest brown head with a jet black body with ruby hints around the edge of the glass. Aroma of grass, polished leather, motor oil. Flavour is chocolate notes mixed with dark leather and a sour finish. Okay mouthfeel. Decent and drinkable but not a standout.
