GMCC2181 (848), Bear, Delaware, USA Feb 4, 2009 Bottle from BD55. Thanks brian. Popped and the beer spewed every where. WTF...After clean up, poured it into a snifter. Hazy orange in color good head that stuck around. Aroma was dry and earthy, maybe a touch of spices... Taste has a nice spiceyness to it. light touch of hops. Its very dry, very earthy, very yeasty, but smooth and well balanced. Really good beer. Carbonation level was low. I love bottle conditioned beers. Overall great beer.... jtheye (12), Roeland Park, Kansas, USA Feb 3, 2009 My favorite thing about this beer is the warming character -- maybe the yeast? I’m sure the 8% alcohol content doesn’t hurt either. I think my fridge is too cold, though ... I had a foam volcano on my hands when I opened it. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Feb 3, 2009 Highly legitimate Belgian ale from an excellent brewery despite the goofy gnomes on their bottles. Golden color with flavors of Belgian yeast, light hoppiness, light fruits, and significant spiced flavor. Yeasty and fruity aroma with spices. Great appearance with a white head and lines of bubbles rising from the bottom. Well-balanced and highly drinkable. finol (475), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden Feb 1, 2009 750 Ml bottle from Systembolaget.
Very cloudy and a thick head.
Fruty aroma. Well balanced, didn´t notice the high alcohol content. BVery (446), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA Feb 1, 2009 Updated: Jun 27, 2009TAP: at the Bulldog (St. Paul, MN) on 1.31.09. Hazy gold pour, mild aroma of fruit and yeast. Spice and yeast flavor, terrific taste. hirigalzkar (550), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 31, 2009 Bottle. Hazy, golden color. Smells belgian yeast, fruit and honey. Add some spices and you get the flavor. Well balanced. Nice and easy to drink. Brewsmith (136), Torrance, California, USA Jan 31, 2009 On tap at the Yardhouse in Long Beach. Served in a goblet glass. Color is a golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is fruity bubblegum with a hint of spice. Flavors match the aroma with bubblegum and spice notes, also giving candy sugar sweetness and a little alcohol. Nice and light for the size and a dry finish. A nice Belgian beer to end the evening. Guerde (696), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Jan 30, 2009 (bottle) Pours dark, hazy gold with a fluffy white head that settles to a thin ring around the glass. Great aroma of floral honey, must, faint funk, coriander, pears, baked bread, faint citrus, stale hop, and a touch of pineapple. The taste is also really great, and all at once there are flavors of spice, yeast, and sweetness that blend together very nicely. Light flavors of orange marmalade, honey, with spicy kicks of coriander, deer sausage, and light citric peel bitterness, that then rounds out to a really nice bready/yeasty finish that really sticks around long after drinking. The perfect carbonation really accents the spicy kicks right before the finish, and the mouthfeel is medium. This beer is perfectly balanced, complex, and just a pleasure to drink.
