La Chouffe is spicy. Many herb notes like koriander and juniper can be found in this beer. The addition of spices in the brew makes it an interesting drink. Too bad that the glass isn’t all that special but the colour looks great. Bit amber gold. Lovely beer. I’ve really enjoyed from tap.

750ml bottle. Pours a deep golden color with a long lasting frothy white headand nice trails of lace. Aroma is of citrus, yeast, and a touch of spicy hops. The taste was a pleasantly sweet strong ale with a nice maltiness to it, and a definate alcohol bite. Notes of sour apple, coriander, citrus, pepper, spices and sweet yeast. Well balanced and quite tasty overall. Very smooth in the mouth and dangerously drinkable.

Draft at The Bridge. Pours a cloudy, dull golden color with a small white head. Aroma of butterscotch, candi sugar, peach, apricot, pear, and straw. Flavor is led by peach, with sweet malts, banana, bubblegum, candi sugar, and corn syrup. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a malty mouthfeel. Dry finish. A little disappointing- I expected more from this classic.

Bottle picked up at Rick’s in Alexandria and served with Christmas dinner. Served in a wine glass. Pours a cloudy golden-orange color with a good white head. Very bubbly. The nose is banana, pear, and spice with a bit of creaminess. Really soft and mellow with a bit of a light buttery, chardonnay-esque character. The taste is pretty similar with over-ripe pear and spicing really standing out. The feel is nice--medium body with good carbonation and a good creamy feel to it. This drinks quite well and works nicely with turkey and accompaniments. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 12-29-2010

On tap at The Porter in Atlanta. Hazy gold with fluffy, soapy white head. Thick lacing, grassy and spicy nose. Tastes of peach, slight white pepper, earthy roots and slight funk. Touch of clove on the finish. Very well-rounded, immensely drinkable.

2 Feb 2010, bottle. little head that fades fast. body is hazy, almost murky w/ light orange/yellow hue. moderately yeasty and sweet aroma with elements of apple, alcohol and maybe coriander. body is surprisingly thin w/ a creamy texture and dry finish and slightly fizzy.
