4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 paultheguru (631) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAR 24, 2011
Poured into a snifter. Poured a cloudy, straw yellow, with a slightly orange hue to it. Nice solid white head that hangs out for a while. Great lacing. Aromas are of sweet citrus, honey, tropical fruits, spices, nutmeg, anise, and some yeasty esters. Nice citrus flavor on top, s well as tropical fruits being all over this one. Some nice spices like clove and nutmeg really balance this out. Light mouthfeel, crisp and clean, with a great carbonation level. I think this beer is outstanding. Anything by Chouffe is worthy of a try, but their flagship beer is very delicious.

Bottle thanks to my brother for my birthday< thanks bro! Pour is faintly hazy copper with a rocky white head. Aroma is very crisp with notes light biscuit malt, light clean citrus hop, light black pepper, light spice, and faint lemon/orange peel. Flavor is very similar to nose but with notes of brett, dry yeast, and a light floral note. Really drinkable, really clean, and really good.

Bottle in Rome. Pours hazy light golden with a small white head. Aroma is spicy, yeasty and oranges. Taste is more on the sweet side, spices playing in the background together with some fresh crisp hops. Lively carbonated. Long lasting almost dry, medium bitter finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 JanLaursen (721) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 9, 2011
UPDATED: JUL 21, 2011 Cloudy orange beer with a rapidly dying foamy white head. Aroma is sweet malts, sulfur and barnyard with some classic Belgian notes of ripe banana, abricots and cloves. Taste is sweet and tart with something resembling bittersweet orange peel. Medium body. Oily texture. Soft carb. Fine bitter aftertaste. A very joyful experience.

It is a shame I discovered this beer only as recently as two or three years ago... much La Chouffe drinking time has gone to waste.
