PilsnerPeter (2598), Flushing, New York, USA Sep 23, 2008 Bottle: Pours a nice hazy golden with a thick and creamy off white head. Very aromatic- sweet pale Belgian malts, dates, honeydew, fruity esters along with subtle spiciness of cinnamon, allspice and gingersnap cookies. The palate is creamy and peppery. The flavor has a great balance of sweet Belgian malts and spice character- glazed pastries, honey, coriander, bread crust, vanilla/toffee, later yeasty spiciness of peppery phenols and spice notes of spruce and cinnamon. Pretty hard to describe, but it’s complex in it’s subtlety. Elegant and unique. pumpmaster (474), Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA Sep 21, 2008 750ml bottle purchased at Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL for $8.48 Very good! Caleb1035 (63), , North Carolina, USA Sep 19, 2008 750 ml bottle pours to hazy golden body in a trappist glass. Nice thick head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is citrus but faint. Taste is nice with slight alcohol burn aftertaste...definitely warms the belly. Good Beer DTM (541), Winters, California, USA Sep 16, 2008 Bottle shared with Timfoolery. Poured a golden color with a huge and fluffy white head. Smelled and tasted of bananas and spice. Reminded me a lot of some of the Unibroue beer. Overall a great beer. timfoolery (482), California, USA Sep 16, 2008 Bottle from Wade’s Wines in Agoura Hills, CA. Not often do I go for "hey, you should try this one... it’s pretty good." Invariably, it’s usually pretty bad, with exception to La Chouffe. This one’s got apple and pear notes, and reminds me of a lighter, spicier version of La Fin du Monde by Unibroue. Nice palate and balance. brigg (213), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Sep 15, 2008 (bottle) Bubbling, hazy golden body with a medium white head. Aroma has pear, banana, spices, and earthy notes. Moderately sweet flavor, citrus, bread, and some funky, wild-earthy flavors and a hint of citrus. Drier on the finish with a warming alcohol sensation at the end. Medium bodied and lively carbonation. NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Sep 13, 2008 Small bottle. Pours cloudy golden with a small white head. The nose is nicely funky, but not really sour. Maybe something like wild hay. Light citrus and papery hops come out to work with the fruity esters. I was a little surprised to find this sweetness in the flavor. It’s certainly not exessive, but the aroma lead me to believe this would be a rather dry tasting beverage. Lots of orange, lemon, and grassy notes. The finish brings out more fruits and a lingering, juicy sweetness. Pretty decent stuff. rocbyter (902), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Sep 8, 2008 Sweet grain malt and hop aroma. Smells like boiling wort. Cloudy golden color with a large white head that quickly diminishes. Initially sweet with a mild tangy finish. Light palate.
