Chrism86 (273), Melbourne, Australia Aug 16, 2008 Presents a hazy golden orange colour with a towering, rocky collar of foam, which is tightly packed and laces quite well. Aromas of lemon and spice dominate with some hinting caramel and honey notes. Palate is complex, displaying chewy caramel malt, citrus rind and an abundance of Chinese five-spice. High carbonation matched with dry yeasty notes give the perception of a dry finish, when in reality substantial sweet malt is present and proves to add great balance. JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 10, 2008 750ml from Whole Foods, Raleigh. I am a huge fan of all things this brewery produces, but I suppose it’s hard to overlook how good the base beer is. I’m a sucker for the earthy, cloudy strong ales like this, with a sweet spicy flavor balanced out by grassy bitter hops and bit of a poke in the ribs from the yeast. Delicious stuff. kubilai (33), , Quebec, Canada Aug 9, 2008 Great gold and cloudy color. Nice thick white head. Complex and evolutive taste. Notes of spices : cinnamon?. Floral and fruity smells. A good one. doboy (175), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Aug 9, 2008 A nice belgain shared as research with the notorious DrBayern. Poured with a nice, off white head that retained nicely. Nice carbonation and a very pleasent nose. Definately an easy beer to drink! Borresteijn (1347), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 7, 2008 On tap @ De Geuzen and many places in Amsterdam. Hazy golden colour, big white head. Aroma of yeast, fruits, hops and spices (coriander). Taste is very smooth, nice spicy flavours, some hops and malts, yeast/bread. Very well balanced beer, smooth mouthfeel. Highly drinkable, so watch out for the Leprechauns in your head the next morning. egajdzis (3598), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 4, 2008 [BCTC VIP Dinner 08] Poured a hazy golden color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, citrus fruits, earthy yeast, light coriander, and orange peel. Taste of some vanilla, citrus, green raisins, light spices, yeast, honey, and a dry, alcohol finish. MuttyD (93), Cambridge, USA Aug 3, 2008 Golden color with thin white head that persists throughout. Fruity, floral and citrusy aroma. Similar to a farmhouse. Fruity and slightly hoppy flavor. Dry finish. Alcohol not noticable. bermod (118), Lappeenranta, Finland Aug 2, 2008 Aroma is fruity, orange, orange peel and spices. Very orange-fruity, a bit sweetish and spicy flavor finishes quite dry, bitter and spicy. Alcohol doesn’t taste, but warms very nicely. Medium-bodied palate is warming and quite easy to drink. So balanced, awesome beer : )
