golden-orange hue. not a substantial head, but decent lacing. aroma was classic golden, but suprisingly subtle - few aroma notes from the yeast. well balanced with nice bittering and spice notes in the finish. no alcohol notes

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2011 Whatever the mood is, give me a Chouffe and i’ll be fine. La Chouffe is one of the few beers that never disapoint me. The good smell, flavours and the overall ambitious easy drinking style is something I really apriciate. It has a good round body, slightly fresh, a bit sweet but with a typical belgian style its a very good beer. In the end it;s maybe not really, really good, but in the end, La Chouffe is still a fine, nice, good flavoured beer! Thanks for that!

33 cL bottle. Poured into La Chouffe tulip. Pours deep orange tone of gold. Head has long retention duration. Decent Belgian lace. Lots of tiny sediment pieces floating around the bottom of the glass. Robust fruity and spicy aromas. Slight honey and citrus scents. Subtle clove, and perhaps a hint of cinnamon, on nose. Belgian yeast, esters on front of palate. Spices and subtle hops mid palate. Hint of buttery flavor on back of palate. Crisp throughout palate, yet semi-dry finish. Medium body. Feel like I remember La Chouffe tasting even better from a 750 mL as well as on tap. Would like to re-rate based on a 750 mL bottle.

Same bottle as pictured. Pours about the same head as pictured. Not very sweet which I enjoyed. I recommend it.

750 ml bottle. Cloudy golden colour, thick off-white head that leaves some lacing. Spicy, malty, citrus-fruity aroma. The flavour is sweet and malty, with fruits, yeast, alcohol warmth and a spicy, hoppy finish.

Rather nice beer. A little fruity and sweet but balanced with a little bit of bitterness. Apricots maybe. Serving: Bottle

Draught at the Magpie & Crown. Pours a cloudy gold with a fast disappearing but Lacy head. Citrus & spice & a faint note of banana on the nose, prickly and dry with more spice and banana on the tongue, rich and warming, then with a dry grassy peppery finish.
