weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England Dec 26, 2007 I’ve had this many times but never rated it. Certainly high on my list. Slightly cloudy but fizzy. Tastes a little like a white beer, am I the only one who thinks that? Lovely smell, light spices, sweet stuff and banana cake. And makes a great sauce. Very nice. kevd193213 (477), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA Dec 22, 2007 Bottle. Cloudy, light amber pour with fizzy white thick head. Lots of carbonation. Aroma of yeast, bananas and spices. Taste of apple and spice, even malty finish. FatPhil (3443), Espoo, Finland Dec 22, 2007 750ml bottle.
Muted gold, slightly cloudy, ice-cream float head. Very lively. Crisp initial hoppy aroma, spreads out into a pleasant sweet perfume, and a light maltiness. Soft carbonation in the mouth, despite its early apparent liveliness. Very mellow light malty body, sweet and appley. powerful wave of hoppiness follows and stays for a very long finish, even peppery in the end. popdoggy (100), USA Dec 21, 2007 Great Belguim. A good interpertation of a strong ale. Sweet yet tart. Nice mouthfeel, not to dry. keepersj12 (774), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Dec 16, 2007 On tap at Monk’s Cafe, Philadelphia. Nice amber color with a large foamy head. Aroma of spices with some fruit. Very nice flavor with a hint of sweetness. Dry finish. Alcohol is very well hidden. jredmond (1015), New Jersey, USA Dec 9, 2007 bottle. Body is light yellow/orange. The aroma reminds me of a cheap Spanish pale lager...skunk. Maybe this is due to the green bottle as wcampbell pointed out. Taste is smooth and delightful. Absolutely no taste of 8% abv. I really enjoyed this Belgian Strong Ale. TET (226), Finland Dec 8, 2007 Updated: Dec 20, 2008La Chouffe is nice orange beer with big white head. Aroma is fruitful, whitebeer-likesh and little spicyness. In the flavour there are fruits, sourness, little sweetness and hops in the end. Lot of carbonation but it is stylish-like. Body is strong enought so the carbonation is not too much. Mixing different kind of styles and very referehning and interesting beer. wcampbell (572), Central, South Carolina, USA Dec 8, 2007 Decent beer. Doesn’t remind me of a belgian ale. The aroma was like a cheap mexican beer, maybe due to the green bottle. Lightly spicy and grassy flavor. Not too much flavor or finish to it though. Almost no alcohol presence.
