Maverick34 (686), New York, USA Apr 22, 2007 Draft. Pours light yellow w/medium head and lacing. Fruity aroma which dominates taste. Better than I remembered. RiverHorse (454), New Jersey, USA Apr 22, 2007 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a very murky light amber color with a very large head. The lacing on this glass is extremely thick. If you don’t watch your pour, you could get all head. The smell is very malty and fruity. I really think peach dominated the scent of this bad boy. The taste is very different from other Belgian strong ales. I noted a peachy taste with malt and some yeast. The taste that really messes with the palate is pepper. There wasn’t much in the way of carbonation or hops here. This is a very interesting beer, not at all what I expected. k4df4l (154), DTown, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 20, 2007 750 ml bottle - pours a hazy golden with a massive fluffy white head that hangs in for a looooong time. Yeasty, sweet candied fruit and spicy aroma. Flavor is initially sweet malts, candi sugars and fruits that develops into belgian yeasts notes with spice and pepper into a dry very lightly hopped finish. Medium/thick palate. beermouth (434), Langeskov, Denmark Apr 20, 2007 Hazy clear golden yellow with huge foamy head. Lot’s of fruit, yeast, malt and citrus taste and aroma. Good struckture and fine lacing. SamuraiArtist (292), portland, Oregon, USA Apr 19, 2007 2005 keg on Draft: Pours a cloudy yellow with a big white fluffy head that slowly dissipates. Not a lot of aroma, what there is of honey malts and peaches. Flavor is much the same. Lightly sweet and fruity, peach and tangerine flavors, some phenolic character and a nice creamy body. Has a much thicker palate then you would think. Carl99Fan (186), Suwanee, Georgia, USA Apr 17, 2007 Poured from 11.2oz bottle into a Trappist glass. One finger white head that dissipates quickly. Lacing present. Coppery orange hue with lots of flotsam present. Great representation of the style. cab (861), Denmark Apr 17, 2007 Blind taste. Good head, creme of white color. One of the better beers at this blind tasting. A real Belgian. iep (229), Amsterdam, Netherlands Apr 16, 2007 Transparant copper with a medium-size head which faded rapidly. Aroma of honey, vanilla, also quite floral with some hop and spices. Strong, rounded and well-balanced taste of sweet malt (honey. liqourice, vanilla, somewhat grainy & bready), some slightly bitter hops in the long & sweet finish, plus some spices that blend in nicely. Mouthfeel has low carbonation, is somewhat watery, but fits the beer well. For a brew that is made at such large scale, in such large quantities, this is surprisingly nice.
