Bronzegolden colour. Great head and retention. Hops, spices and fruit in the nose. As with the Mc Chouffe, a very creamy feel in the mouth. Some sweetness of the yeast, hoppy citrus and more spices. Bitterness is nicely balanced. Bitter dry finish, but very subtle and lasting. Great Belgian strong ale.

Bottle shared. Had this many time since the late 80’s, but never in my RB life (= since Duvel took over). Dark golden/light amber color, slightly hazy. Big white head, uneven, good retention & lacing. Aroma’s: coriander, sweet. Retronasal it’s sweet malts, herbs (mostly coriander). Flavor is moderate sweet, herbal, light bitterness. Medium bodied. Flavors linger, but not much news in the finish. I think it lost some of its character, but still decent.

Excellent beer. In my experience its considerably better on tap but also great in a bottle. Great session beer. Slightly spicy and citric. Rich, smooth and creamy mouthfeel. I have a lot of love for The Gnome.

The first time I had this beer, I had no idea that it was 8% and proceeded to put back four of them in a relatively short amount of time. I learned my lesson, but this spicy, lemony little beer is exceptionally refreshing.

330 ml, flaske, 8,0 % ABV, købt i Den Belgiske Ølbutik i Vanløse, 13. september 2014.

Large frothy head with a nearly opaque golden yellow body. Typical robust blonde aroma consisting of yeast, malt, and perhaps a wee bit of banana. Heavy, creamy body. Initially quite smooth and creamy with notes of yeast and banana, but some tingling spice. Finishes with some hops and alcohol.

It is pretty complex, to say the least. It has a very good balance between malts and hops, with bread, grains, citrus, dry herbs, yeast and spices. Medium sweet taste and a dry long finish. Average carbonation and creamy mouthfeel. It appears hazy golden with a big frothy head. An excellent beer.

Pours amber with white head. Aroma is tipical belgian yeast, a bit malty, honey, no hops. Taste is warming, low carbonation, alcohol is well hidden. Well balanced beer for colder days.

[5494-20130617] Tap. Cereal malt grain aroma has a toasted burlap note. Slightly hazy, brown orange body with a big long-lasting creamy white head and thick lacing. Sweet mouldy green beans and sugary waffle wafers flavour. Medium body. The initial sweetness threw me a little but got used to it. (6/3/7/3/14) 3.3
