Pours a hazy golden with rocky white head (surely unfiltered and bottle conditioned). Very active carbonation, lot of bubbles with different size, and velocity. Fresh fruity and spicy aroma with bananas, wheat, coriander and maybe some pear cider notes. Balanced spicy mouthfeel with coriander, pears, apples. Slightly hoppy, rather clove kinda dry finish. Very easy bodied despite the 8%ABV. Smooth oily texture with lively carbonation. Refreshing Strong Ale.

Pours a golden cloudy yellow with a ton of white head. The nose is sweet malts, sugar, coriander and pine hops. Comes across the palate smooth and sweet initially with some hops through nice sweetness and sp icy; finishes with a nice sugary sweetness that has just a hint of a spice.

On tap at the Flying Saucer in KC. Pours a hazy, radiant golden body with a thin and delicate, very fluffy, white head that leaves a light lacing. Very nice aroma of bready malts and banana. Nice touch of corriander spice and a flowery hoppiness. Distinct Belgium yeast aroma, but not the "strong ale" aroma I was expecting. Nice. Very mellow, but abundant in aroma and flavor. Moderate citrus sweetness and doughy maltiness balance very well with the touch of corriander spicing and sharp flowery European hop. Lingers with a malty sweetness and a light bitterness. Rich and full bodied with a slight tingle to it. Overall, a fantastic beer. Not over the top and full of wonderful flavor. Extremely pleased.

Bottle. Drank this amazing brew with Vinny. Pours a beautiful orange gold, with a dank white head. Subtle aroma of sweet fruits, with a hint of banana. Body is full, with a rich, crisp finish. Excellent beer from an excellent brewery, Highly recommended.

A little gushing action upon opening. Poured a cloudy gold with a white pillow head. Smells of oranges with a little spice, just a little alcohol and a very slight metallic scent. Tastes like a loaf of bread with a slight banana flavor. Just a little alcohol on the back yet. An amazing beer. I’ve had La Chouffe previously where there was a little skunkiness. This bottle is perfect, though.

from a 750. Remember the first time I had this, on tap in amsterdam, and loving it. Have drank multiple times since, one of my favorite belgian strongs, finally getting around to writing some notes on it. Pours beautiful cloudy light orange color, with big white fluffy head. My trappist glass was in the wash but this pinot noir glass actually works quite nicely for the beer. Aroma is light, inviting, but flavorful, honey, rich wheat cream, light spices, light vanilla and banana. Crisp, refreshing, smooth, focused palate makes this drink like a thicker hoegaarden or something; that is to say, it is dangerously drinkable and the 8% completely disguised. Flavor is spiced wheat, but fresh tasing, with vanilla, creme brulee / burnt sugar, and light fruity tones on the finish, perhaps honey glazed pear. One of the best, most classic belgian sessions on the market. Will always be a personal favorite of mine.
