Poured the beer from the bottle into a pint glass to sample. The beer was a semi-cloudy straw-lemon color with noticeable sediment and a large foamy head with good retention, and solid cling and lacing. Its aroma featured notes of straw, lemon, and wheat, and also had touches of fruit, citrus, and grapefruit for a pleasant blend. The taste was a nice lightly sweet fruity flavor with notes of citrus, and a somewhat sour and grainy effect as well. The beer had a good, thick palate, and was mostly dry with good carbonation and a filling mouthfeel. It was a very solid beer with good character and notes, but just short of excellent.

Wow. How have I not rated this? I guess I just assumed I had. Most recently enjoyed a large 50cl glass in a bar in Vieux-Lille on a sunny afternoon. Pours clear deep gold with large white head. Aroma is bright, sweet, lightly spicy. Highly carbonated palette with spicy sweet character, lightly floral and crisp. Super refreshing, classic Belgian blonde.

Bottle shared with koleminer20 at The Chouffe Party 2016. Aroma is banana, clove, coriander, sweet hops, yeast, yikes. Appearance is dark golden, white head, very hazy. Taste is permanent marker, banana, clove, strong alcohol presence, tropical fruit, pine, yeast and malt. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy body, light carbonation, dusty aftertaste, some tropical fruit. Overall, the first sip was not good, but with a braced palate, it got better.

330 mL bottle shared by ebone1988 at The Chouffe Party 2016. The pour is a dark gold color, hints of orange poking in with an ivory colored head that falls down to a film and leaves a light lace behind. The aroma is not that great. There is a big bready malt that comes through first and then a blast of coriander. There is a light hint of leafy hop, but there is no bitterness associated; it’s all sweet. A light caramel and candy exists on the back end, but this thing is a not good Belgian mess. The flavor is sweet and malty and a little hot. The alcohol is definitely here. There aren’t a lot of peripherals and it’s pretty basic. Malts, Belgian sweetness, and a bigger than expected alcohol presence. The mouth feel is pretty decent. There is a nice thickness to it and the carbonation is soft and relaxed. The aftertaste is a little dusty, but leaves a lingering sweet maltiness behind. Overall this is much better than it smells.

Hazy straw color with weak activity. Foamy white 2 finger head, lasting around 10 minutes, with some good legs. Aromas of fresh sweet grains, vinous citrus, and slightly floral. Flavors of lemony citrus, fruity ester, sweet malts, floral and herbal spices. Strong citrus sharpness balanced with nice malt sugar. Tasty, balanced, and super fresh. Smooth medium body with champagne like carbonation. Well intensified medium strength crispy clean finish, ending with a perfect touch of spices and some floral notes. Overall an exquisite craft having great freshness and delicious flavors. Quite accessible having almost no perception of alcohol and low on the spices. One of the best Belgian ale out there.

Actually on tap at Hopfenreich.

Bottle at Le Corbeau. Aroma of caramel and spicy hops with yeasty notes. The flavours starts sweet but finish light bitter. The body is medium and the texture is watery.

Como a maioria das belgas, a La Chouffe não decepciona. Bem dourada com uma boa formação de espuma, aroma delicioso com um bom sabor maltado. O gosto do álcool poderia ser menos intenso, porém 8% não tem como esconder.

Poured from a 33cl bottle to a chalice glass. Hazy and golden. 2 fingers white, diminishing but not disappearing head. Very sparkling as you can even hear. Nice malty, hay aroma. Some peaches and herbs. Flavor is dry and well balanced. However I have been expecting that will be more accented. Medium body. Moderate carbonation which was a nice surprise because I thought it will be gritty and molesting after that sparkling sound i have heard. Medium palate, thick. Nice dry finish, long lasting. Well... I remembered this beer much better than it was now. A lot of medium, average things going on. Still much better than many in this style. Coriander added was not so fancy like I thought. Anyway very good beer. Just it does not kicks ass.
