Talk about taste progression -- on draft in Belgium, it’s so much about the corriander. In bottle in the US, the spices fade a bit and some nice maltiness comes to the fore. And after cellaring for 8 or 9 years, the spices are gone altogether and so are most of the hops, leaving a slight maltiness and a nice sweetness.

Draught @ Bier- & Eetcafé Gollem, Antwerp. Pours slightly hazy straw with small white head. Clear aroma of malt and hops, with notes of caramel and yeast. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt, with notes of hops and metal. Rough, estery and metallic aftertaste, without which the beer would be much better. Drinkable but not quite what I like.

A good belgian strong ale, but nothing more, classic with hints of esters, banana, candy sugar and sweet fruits.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Indeed golden, with not so beautiful white head. Smells typic belgian, a little bit peachy, spicy, with some notes of alcohol in the background. Quite highly carbonated, fruity, drinkable but nothing else. Good Belgian blond ale, that’s what.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
33 cl. bottle poured in to a Tulip. Cloudy, golden colour with an amber tint. Big, fluffy white head. Fruity aroma with yeasts, spices, light caramel malts, apricot, a herbal-spicy bitterness. Taste is bitter. Full body with a creamy, bordering thicker texture and an average carbonation. Good for a Belgian Blonde. Long lasting dry and fruity finish with a good amount of spicy bitterness. Some citrus. Rather good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle - pours hazy light Orange with lacy white head. Marmalade, spice and sweet malt aroma. Sweet hint up front with a hit if the citrus and spice , transitions to a dry almost cider hit, then a sharp dry finish. Mouthfeel is creamy with a lively carbonation.

Lekker bier. Het witte schuim trekt te rap weg en de smaak van melkzuur is te aanwezig.
