La Choulette Ambrée is the classic amber version of a French bières de gardes. It has a wonderfully spicy aroma and is fullflavored, but effervescent and refreshing.

Fruity nose, light acidity, hops, malty and rich. A clean aroma, sweet and pleasant with a bit of yeast. Dark orange-amber clear with off-white, almost tan foamy lacing head. Medium-heavy body with solid carbonation, warming effect after. Starts malty and sweet, with musky fruit, yeast and alcohol. Finish is even sweeter, vaporous and deep, close to being velvety in texture. Strong nutty sweet finish. A little dryness comes in to finish, while leaving a sweet tannic residue, like after eating an exceptionally sweet pear or grape.

Bottled: Amber coloured. Beige huge head. Malts, alcahol and some light cocoa notes in the aroma. Liquorice, malts and chocolate in the flavour. Some alcahol but othervise vague aftertaste.

Musty woody and cork aroma with big whiffs of malt and fruit. Orangy/red with a smallish head. Flavour was all cork, malt, no hops but some sour notes. Maybe this needs to be drunk by itself?

Nice amber color with slight head and slight lacing. Fruity, spicy and malty aroma followed by lots of malt flavor with some horse leather/must lingering in the background. Some phenolic and some esters notices as well. THis is similar to Victory Grand cru just not as strong or bold. THis is my first Biere De Garde but I really liked it and will try more in the future.

Dark red/brown in colour. Aromas are fruity, spicy and a touch musty. Good alcohol on the nose, too. Flavours are autumn fruits, toffee and sherry with warming alcohol to finish. Good stuff.

Slighty hazy red amber body, with a good velvety off white head. Slight barnyardy floral aroma? Bit tart and teasty at times with some nice malt in it and some acidity. Intriguing. Deceptively high alcohol content.

Just as nice as the one without pants with a very smokey earthy taste. A long neck of this last christmas almost knocked me out after mum's passion pop. Strangely available in Cordkers up at Newcastle but unsighted in Sydney...

Tasted like it was aged in a oak cask. It was so good. Deep orange in color. Sweet fruity aroma. Malty. It tasted like champagne or wine. The alcohol was subtle, not noticeable. Really good.

This is one impressive brew. Deep yellow to orange color with a lasting white head. A sweet, mellow, fruity aroma, with a well blended alcohol undertone. Malty brew that has (oak?) woody undertones blended with a malty, fruity palate. The alcohol, though not hidden, was blended perfectly with the flavor profile to give the beer a wine-like impression. These guys are now 2 for 2 in my book as far as good beer goes.
