La Choulette Ambrée is the classic amber version of a French bières de gardes. It has a wonderfully spicy aroma and is fullflavored, but effervescent and refreshing.

Clear orange golden colour, white head. Metallic aroma, iron, malts. Malty flavour with iron. Light spicy finish, iron, metal, light malts.
Too bad of the iron, otherwise it might’ve been a really nice beer.

Bottled 27/12/12. A dark amber coloured beer with a patch of whitish head. Brown fruits and yeast in the nose. Deep fruitiness in the mouth. Raisins are a strong element. Yeasty. Tasty and although sweet not overly so. Pretty good.

A very decent beer with multiple levels of subtle flavors, going from fruit to wood, to vanilla, to musty attic. Light orangish brown ale, thick head and medium body.

Bottle at Sous-Bock, Paris. It pours amber, with a long-lasting thick beige head. The nose is caramel, wood, leather and spice. The taste is caramel, wood, very spicy, earth, some dark fruit, metallic, brown bread, leather and some warming alcohol, with a dry, spicy finish. Medium body and fizzy champagne-like carbonation. A great biere de garde.
