La Choulette Ambrée is the classic amber version of a French bières de gardes. It has a wonderfully spicy aroma and is fullflavored, but effervescent and refreshing.

une bière trop amère pour moi. Ca doit être le houblon qui doit être en trop grande quantité, en tout cas, il ne me reste pas un gros souvenir affectif.

(Kind of like a dubbel with less "Belgian" yeast character) Hazy copper. Smells like toffee, cereal, and a little metal. Just off-dry, low bitterness, a little sour at the end. Tastes like toffee, cereal, a tiny bit of licorice and grass. Medium body with lower carbonation and not much head. No ash character, no alcohol. Super smooth but very flavorful. Malt-forward with medium yeast character but not boring, too sweet, or unbalanced. Delicious.

Bottle. Clear amber colour. Quite toasty malty character, also decent sweetness. Then earthy grassy hops, some alcohol, lightly spicy. Quite good.

Ambra carico, schiuma quasi inesistente, gran quantità di lievito sospeso. Aroma molto dimesso, al palato dolce del caramello, si sente bene l’alcol. Non mi ha emozionato troppo.

0.33L bottle from French e-shop Dark amber with golden tinge, crystal clear with beige, small to medium head, dissipates quickly. Aroma is very malty, caramel, burnt caramel, dark roasted notes, bread crust, earthy and light spicy hoppy tones, sherry like sweet woody notes. Sweet caramel taste, burnt sugar, apple fruitiness, sweet vanilla/woody tones, alcohol is slightly warming but don’t show at all.

75 cl bottle. Pour is clear amber with thick lasting head, proper lacing. Aromas mainly dough, barnyard and grass. Taste is low on bitter, a bit sweet and a bit salty. Aftertaste is funky yeasts. Maybe a bit much alcohol. Tasty and above average experience.
