Dedollewaitor (1906), Odense, Denmark Aug 2, 2008 33cl bottle. Pours clear golden with a fine white head & lacings. Nose & taste is: Dusty, fruity, yeasty, barnyard- quite disappointing. Smooth, soft & sticky palate. Overall too sweet & too many off flavors. Homer321 (63), Rockledge, Florida, USA Jul 15, 2008 bottle dated 12-10-06. aroma has "that belgain funk" like it might be tart. app is hazy dark yellow. hardly any carbonation, maybe it all leaked out? Ha. taste is like WTF? not what I was expecting from the nose. smooth, slight taste from raw sugars in brewing. palate is ok, kinda neutral. I’m glad I didn’t pay too much for this beer. while it’s ok for the price, it left me wanting more complexity. I’d buy it again, but I can see why the store wanted to get rid of it to get better beers in. Maybe it was past it’s prime, not really sure. BeerBiker (1159), Odense, Denmark Jun 21, 2008 Bottle from Finn sampled at RISKY-Nielsys summerhouse in Bodensee. Typical Biere de garde beer with dry flavor of weak fruits. Hazy light and not something special, but not that bad. durhambeer (378), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 10, 2008 Updated: Jun 14, 2008750 cl bottle. Cloudy golden orange pour with moderate head. Funky hay, yeast, malt, grain on the nose. More of the same with added vegetable matter and menthol notes on the palate and a chalkiness in taste and mouthfeel that wasn’t very pleasant. I like funky beers, but this had some funk that didn’t seem to be intentional, and it certainly wasn’t expected from a Biere de Garde. Very different from, say, a Castelain Blond. shrubber85 (2462), Wallhalben, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany May 27, 2008 Bottle (75cl - corked). Dry hay, barnyard and barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Caramel malt flavor with a light pepper and yeast finish. Nice beer.
