Metalchopz (2197) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 6, 2010
Originally rated April 2005. Pours a slight hazy golden colour with amber highlights. The head is foamy with not bad retention, but the lacing is great. Man, this brew is pretty special. Hard to detect the nose and mouth. Carbonation is slow and light with tiny bubbles. The scent is spicy, nutty and dry. Mild though. The taste is earthy. The middle is mildly bitter with a smooth nut aftertaste. Very interesting brew, just expecting something less smooth. Two words - Earth, Nuts. If you don’t like those, stay away.

Pours golden yellow with a huge head. Hoppy aroma. Very average taste; thin mouthfeel for a beer of this strength. Mediocre, but not bad.

Serving: 750 ml. bottle from Fireworks.
Aroma: The nose is a bit grassy with notes of cereal, grain, and farmhouse yeast. A bit on the simple side.
Appearance: This brew pours a hazy, yellowish gold with a pillowy, white head. Decent head retention and spotty lacing left behind.
Taste: It’s a bit on the sweet side with light notes of grass, honey suckle, yeast, grain, and candy sugar. Unfortunately the grain and candy sugar seem to dominate things a bit, taking away from the subtlety of this brew.
Palate: Light to medium in body with average carbonation leading to a sweet, floral finish.
Overall: Rather ho-hum for the style but certainly drinkable. Not one to go out of your way for though.

330ml. Bonjour: I lived in northern France(near Nantes) for 4 months in the winter of 2008-2009 . From the biere de garde catolouge available in my French hood , Jenlaine Ambre was my favourite . Because ? A quality beer and came in 750mls and mini kegs,. Trois3Monts is also classy but that notorious mettle cork holder is alwayz a bitch to remove. Stay clear of Pelforth Blonde (not a biede de garde) but its on tap in most bars .
aroma iz rich and malty, with some spunk. Spirity like alcoholic booze..hay and earth notes.
Sweet flavaz are flabby , and kinda covered in rustic earth -and then jamishness. A bit dry and musty ..little peach ester vibez.
Would go well with some stinky ass Frog cheese .

Cloudy gold beer with a small grayish head which disappears quickly. Nose is yeasty, musty, and a little pear. Soft beer, slightly sweet malt flavor with little hop presence. Quick finish.

Contrairement à l’ambrée qui m’avait décu par son amertume et le gout de houblon trop intense. Celle la est vraiment une bonne bignouse.

Very clear and bright with a large light beige head. Mild herb aroma. Very yeasty flavor, full bodied, with background of slight licorice. Bitter finish.

Bottle 75cl.
Clear medium yellow color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, grain, toasted, light yeasty. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20081122]

Bottle from Le Quincampe, Paris. Clear golden with persistent head. Intense fruity and earthy aroma and flavours with quite a bit of sweet toffee. Some dry yeasty notes. A kind biere de garde and different from he pack.

750 bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a very small head that quickly disappears. Has an earthy aroma. Some fruitiness lingers in the background. Taste is similarly earthy with sour and funk. The flavor just does not sit very well with me. A lingering sweetness dominates the finish. Light body with low carbonation. Not a bad beer, just nothing impressive.
