4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Cable (286) - SE, Oklahoma, USA - OCT 3, 2005
Sampled from magnum bottle. Pours a clear gold with a nice white head and remarkable lacing. Aroma has notes of sweet pears and leather. Flavor is spicy and very floral, almost like a rose water, with juniper. There is a tartness that may have been imparted by wild yeast. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated. Exceptional farmhouse saison. Welcome this is a farmhouse - Phish.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 KarmanGhia (276) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - SEP 21, 2005
This is basically a Belgian Ale, similar to 3 Monts or Grimbergen. Perhaps the acidicity is higher and the bitterness stonger but more brief. These taste like liquid baguettes.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 iambeer (255) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 27, 2005
The lack of alcohol taste was a good rate, espeacially with 7.5 %. Good head retention, and nice lacing. It was very drinkable and really nothing seemed to be off, but it just didn’t appeal that much to me.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 norsedoc (241) - USA - MAY 8, 2010
Cloudy gold beer with a small grayish head which disappears quickly. Nose is yeasty, musty, and a little pear. Soft beer, slightly sweet malt flavor with little hop presence. Quick finish.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 karsten (241) - odense, DENMARK - JUL 28, 2002
Sweetish, cellar-like, woody.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Sanchex (224) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 21, 2005
Very deep gold color. White long lasting head. Mild yeast and sour malt aroma with floral undertones. Mild carbonation with a fairly high level of sweetness for a blonde. Flavor is quite boring. For me it’s a nondescriptive mash of flavors with no strong notes or subtle tones. Cheers!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 winegarner (220) - san diego, California, USA - MAR 12, 2006
Poured a filtered clear gold with a soft fading head. Aromas of bananas and flowery noble hops, and flavors of banana, green apple, lemon, and herbs. Medium body and maltiness leaves a nice light honeyish finish. Refreshing but still sweet.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Homer321 (127) - Rockledge, Florida, USA - JUL 15, 2008
bottle dated 12-10-06. aroma has "that belgain funk" like it might be tart. app is hazy dark yellow. hardly any carbonation, maybe it all leaked out? Ha. taste is like WTF? not what I was expecting from the nose. smooth, slight taste from raw sugars in brewing. palate is ok, kinda neutral. I’m glad I didn’t pay too much for this beer. while it’s ok for the price, it left me wanting more complexity. I’d buy it again, but I can see why the store wanted to get rid of it to get better beers in. Maybe it was past it’s prime, not really sure.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Grossecaisse (117) - FRANCE - JAN 12, 2010
Contrairement à l’ambrée qui m’avait décu par son amertume et le gout de houblon trop intense. Celle la est vraiment une bonne bignouse.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 ryananderson (74) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 22, 2005
UPDATED: JAN 3, 2006 Bottle. Aroma is grassy and sweet. I was hoping that the taste would be better than the aroma but I was disappointed. The flavour is overly sweet with some bitterness. Medium body, with a dry finish in which some alcohol can be detected. Maybe it would be better if cellared for half a year.
