Really a funny aroma. Taste is a little wird and has very odd characters that I can’t name but I certainly like. A little sourness. great stuff.

Sampled from magnum bottle. Pours a clear gold with a nice white head and remarkable lacing. Aroma has notes of sweet pears and leather. Flavor is spicy and very floral, almost like a rose water, with juniper. There is a tartness that may have been imparted by wild yeast. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated. Exceptional farmhouse saison. Welcome this is a farmhouse - Phish.

Hazy amber colour, thick white, persistent head. Very perfumey aroma, oak, lactic sourness and a bit of barnyard funkiness. Slight citric aroma as well. Flavour is fairly sweet, perfumy, cherry, black pepper, and bit of sherry-oxidized wine character in here. Full-bodied, yet refreshing. Light spice and a touch of juniper in here as well. Complex and very tasty.

Bottle. Nice clear gold with a large white head. Aroma has sweet biscuity malts and some nice light fruit. My first thought on tasting this was that this beers average score is somewhat of a travesty, it’s the danger of statistics I suppose. Excellent biere de garde; spicey, malty and fruity with some caramel and fresh yeast. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, with some warming alcohol in the finish. Very good.

750 ml. green champagne style bottle. Corked and caged. Freshness date on bottom of front label is of Dec 2005. Number on cork is 59111. Poured out a slightly hazy golden yellow color, with a minimal white head. It slowly slid back to a yeasty island floating on top of the beer. Aromas are of fresh cut hay, sweet yeasty bread, slight toffee and caramels, and an esoteric sweet, fruity smell. Tastes are of sweet caramels and toffees, along with a fruity taste akin to papaya or the like. Medium mouthfeel, rich and smooth. No so highly carbonated as to make your tongue dance with excitement, but it has a decent level of carbonation all the same. Alcohol aftertaste to it, but the hops (if any) are hardly discernable. Finishes rather sweet, but not cloying at all. A decent French ale by any standard.

Bottle at Delirium Cafe, Göteborg. Yellow/golden ciolor, small white head. Nutty, malty aroma with creamy notes. Maltyu, nutty flavor, smotthand with a nice balance from hops. Vinous notes and some raisins.

Caged corked 750 ml. green bottle, blurb on the back label, printed best before date in the center of label (30.11.07), sampled in a tulip glass. Yeast sediment is visible in the bottom. Orangy golden in color, a little floating sediment did make it into the glass, small foamy white head that settled into a thin slightly sudsy lacing. A light earthy musty yeast aroma is the first smell I noticed, followed by fruity esters, green pears and apples. Spices I pick up are mainly clove along with soft Noble hops. The malts are in the background, sweet toasted caramel. Crisp and dry tasting, the light body is firm from the carbonation, oily on the tongue. Medium hop bitterness and Noble tasting, herbal spicy. Earthy, musty yeast, clove and aniseedy spices, everything seems to be pinched in the right proportions. The fruitiness is raw pears and green apple skins. Toasted malts, grainy and sweet caramel. Especially dry finish, the spices and toasted caramel lingering a bit in the palate. The alcohol is barely noticeable, just a nice warming presence. I personally found this to be a very enjoyable Bière de Garde with the unique tastes that I like in the style. An easy sipper, another first rate French ale from this family owned brewery.
