3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear brown body and creamy light tan head. Sweet base, figs, caramel, rough malts and spices like juniper berries. Active big bubbly carbonation. Fairly simple brew and not as excessive as I like a Christmas brew to be. Drinks well though. (33cl bottle from Auchan in Tours)

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured a clear amber with a frothy white head. Aroma of peppery, floral hops. Medium body, sweet fruity malt with a slightly dry finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Medium translucent brown color with minimal off-white head and little lacing. Aroma is rich with sharp fruitiness and malts. Flavor has strong malts up front but fades away quickly and becomes dry and papery. Seems oxidized but that’s apparently what a biere de garde is supposed to taste like according to it’s style description?

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Vintage bottle, BBE May 2000. Hazy red brown, minimal head and condition. Big woody phenolic oxidised nose with hint of figs, sweet malt and fruit and a touch of mouldiness. Soft and earthy in the mouth with touches of yeastiness and fruity figs, quite woody and peppery and obviously oxidised, lingering earthy bitterness, fruit and oak notes in the finish. Obviously a beer that will keep in bottle but maybe only for a few years.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled. Amber with a short-lived head; aroma of red berry, wet metal railings and dried pear; quite frothy, some pleasant orchard fruit but then a tinny tang with a hint of the wrong kind of funk. Could have used a more refined use of Christmas spices

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
05-APR-2012, bottle @Morten.
Amber with fluffy off-white head.
Caramelly and spicy but not like most Danish X-mas brews - more subdued use of spice.
Fine more elegantX-mas brew with fruity malty notes.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled 33cl. Courtesy of jaghana. Deep amber colored. Hazelnuts, malt, nutmeg and candy sugar are most present on the nose. Chunky lacework. Malt accented. Medium to full bodied. Some spicy hops. Quite a lot of spices. Unmemorable finish. A bit dissapointing. Thanks a lot jaghana!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml bottle at the Bayou. A great Christmas/holiday beer. It is loaded with spice, malt sweetness, dark stone fruit, cinnamon. I will look for this one next year.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Appearance: suspiciously watery brownish pour slowly darkening to a deep red with tons of icky floaties; bottle was a gusher, with a huge off-white head. Aroma: Weak--notes of caramel, basement funk, yeast, hint of melon, and spices. Taste: bready, spicy, with more watery fruit notes (melon, some fig/raisin). Finish: relatively short, clean, with lingering notes of malt and bread. Notes: I don’t see what the fuss is about. Terribly average-seeming. Palate was nice and the alcohol well-hidden. Bottle aged over a year, but best before 9/2012. For a second glass, I had a couple of chocolate chip cookies beforehand, and the residual flavors were an excellent complement. Bottle from the Rare Beer Club.
