COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stronger, fuller flavored version of the classic bière de garde. The New York Times (your Paper of Record) just anointed this beer the ultimate bière de garde, and rightly so. It’s a rich, rare treat from one of France’s old guard craft breweries. Be there or be square.

Not a bad Biere de Garde. Spicy, Toffee, and lots of malty flavors. Creamy, clean, and crisp finish.

Toffee-amber colour. Cinnamon and toffee aroma, with more of the same in the mouth, mild malty sweetness with complex cinnamon, nutmeg spice after taste.

Aged for 2 to 3 years. Aroma is similar to a belgian or a saison. Lightly sweet and somewhat yeasty flavor. No bitterness. Medium bodied. Not a whole lot of complexity, but very good.

Medium translucent brown color with minimal off-white head and little lacing. Aroma is rich with sharp fruitiness and malts. Flavor has strong malts up front but fades away quickly and becomes dry and papery. Seems oxidized but that’s apparently what a biere de garde is supposed to taste like according to it’s style description?

Has a cloudy dark brown color with a small off-white head. Smell is of fruit and spice. Taste is of sweet carmel malts, spice and finishes with a dry spice swetness. Overall a fine holiday brew.

750ml bottle courtesy of Lance! Sweet and raisony, nice and warm. Quite nice to sip and enjoy on a cold night.

For an x-mas beer this was a bit of a disappointment. BB date just 2 mos away. Poured a beautiful deep amber with decent tho not frothy head. Aroma was very subdued, mild malt sweetness and not much more. The beer went down very easy and had a slightly velvety mouthfeel, however I found it pretty one dimensional and lacking of anything that stood out. Enjoyable? Yes. Top notch? nope, sorry.

A lovely winter treat tried from a 750ml bottle at a winter beer tasting. Pours a clear brown with frothy off white head. Notes of pepper, spice and dark fruits and candied malt.

Clear amber color with a creamy pillowy head. Aroma of yeast, fruit and spice. Flavor of honey and bread but a slight metallic taste in the front. Dry, clean finish. Quite enjoyable.

Caramel and brown sugar with some roasted marshmellows and caramelized dates with raisins. Pours a dark amber with a very thick white head, fluffy. Caramel malts, with grilled mission figs, with dark raisins and light molasses upfront but finishes surprisingly dry.
